If more fighters were smart they wouldn't even need to earn more money they should just be able to live very comfortably off it for the rest of their lives
exactly.... i love ali for a million reasons but the way he treated frazier made me lose some resect for him. he didn't need to ridicule him the way he did. calling him gorrilla and uncle tom! for a man so passionate about racism in america surly that just added fuel to the fire. ali was being racist himself! i think he actualy respected frazier and also feared him which made him act that way.
Acelino Freitas had to leave school in the 5th grade to train boxing. He didn't make as much money as many of the guys mentioned, but he and his wife managed the money wisely and now Freitas has a very good living (not a billionaire, of course) and became a congressman.
seems a shame the guy died without any money to pass on to his kids! im glad we look after our ex champs in this country!
Joe was manipulated by quite a few people, and as a result ended up broke. It's a damn shame that a legendary fighter like him ended up living his last few years like that.
Bad investments and fair weather friends..................it's a shame...........but nobody could take away his championship!!!
Bottom line is phoneys. snakes in the grass that he helped n when he had trouble they said **** him. Well **** them to. I give my last few dollars n my shirt off my back if someone needs. cant imagine fraziers situation
Frazier like many athletes never learned how to handle his money and finances. Low financial IQ. You see this everywhere, across all sports, all types of athletes. Basketball, boxing, baseball. For every 2 guys who keep their money together and invest conservatively and live frugally with their savings there's 8 who go bankrupt 5-10 years after their active career is over.
