Yeah because calling someone "Quitaly" is so mature

If you remember when he was forced to retire because of an injury and had to give up the belt the WBC promised him automatic #1 mandatory spot whenever he decides to come back. They're just keeping their promise and a part of their rules.

Because he is the WBC Champion Emeritus. Guess what? If Lennox Lewis ever comes back he won't have to wait either as he is also WBC Champion Emeritus.

    It doesnt really matter.
What matters is that we have a fight.
Vitali is way too much for Peter.
    Also a quality opponent.

Listen, when Vitali injured his knee before the Rahman fight he could have put the whole division on hold by saying I'll fight when my knee heals and held his title for quite some time.

instead of doing that he aggreed to give up his belt with the stipulation that whenever he was healthy he would get a title shot again.

it's amazing that most of you who are upset about this fight also tear apart this division for being weak, so who would you rather see Peter fight? JT again? Arreola? maybe you want Haye who also hasn't fought another heavyweight in years?

It is indeed an intriguing matchup, I just do not like the emeritus champion title as this obviously favors Vitali over other certainly more deserving former WBC champions.

In my opinion he has not done anything special for boxing which could justify this favour.

I hate the emeritus tag as much as you do, I just can't think of a better challenger right now unless you're a Golota nut or an Arreola fan.

Yes, it is a good matchup. Vitali could also have taking a light tuneup and then get into the WBC rankings. I am sure Peter would have also agreed to fight him then.

He doesnt deserve a automatic shot at the title not after that long out of the ring, the reason he is getting a shot is because of the money involved and the WBC loves money.

That is a bull**** title honestly, that was pretty much made soley for Vitali, When any other champion retire did they get this kind of special treatment?

When Tyson came out of prison after four years you know what happend? all three major sanctioning bodies ranked him #1 automaticly and after loads of protest they made him take a tune up fight before he got a crack at the belt, I am not in favor of the favortisim Vitali is receiving.

It was not created for Vitali. Lennox Lewis also has Emeritus status. It is for fighters that never lost their belt in the ring do to retirement or injury etc. and I have no problem with that.
