He'd probably have a tough time with Jordan however he'd hold his own. He's a smart geezer as well. Simon Jordan and Eddie would make for a more interesting convo than the other muppets like Laura Woods, Spencer Oliver, AdeOlipido, Adam Catterall etc. I disagree though with the opinion that Simon knows the boxing industry inside out. He does not know the industry inside out. He just sees BS and calls it out whereas the other muppets I've named above, have their jobs to protect with Sky and DAZN respectively.
Agreed - I think he vs Jordan would be a really good debate, and Hearn will know that Jordan would identify chinks in his armour that the likes of Kugan, Michelle Phelps and Umar IFL Umar simply do not. It would be uncomfortable for Hearn who likes to manage the conversation as much as possible, and I say that as someone who genuinely quite likes Eddie Hearn.
Yes. I love Simons honesty, but he isn't a Boxing aficionado. Eddie has way way way more knowledge in that department. But Simon is starting to suck up to Frank a lot now.
I agree with this, but he's been sucking up to Frank for ages. It's all: "Queensbury (insert positive spin), isn't that right, Frank?" "Matchroom (insert negative spin), isn't that right, Frank?" Anyone who falls for their "impartiality" is a numpty and shouldn't be allowed near scissors, let alone social media. I would like to see Jordan ask questions of Warren (and Hearn) with the same rigour he approached Mauricio Sulaiman. Instead, they just feed talking points to Warren whenever he loses his way. Also this interview is suspiciously hard to find. Yet it is a rare example of boxing media being brave enough to hold the WBC to account. Good work, Jordan. [Edit: combined the posts]
Eddie has just been on but predictably it was with his employee-Laura Woods. Thought at least Ally McCoist challanged him, although with limited boxing knowledge.
Woods is the only one on Talkshite with any boxing knowledge ( the most knowledgeable with football too and regularly shows up and owns that idiot Jamie O'Hara).
This is exactly why Eddie Hearn doesn’t go on talksport with SJ, he’s a walking contradiction, he acts like we forgot that he gave Usyk 20% and held them over a barrel, or that they offered Wilder 15% for undisputed (don’t come at me with the $100m from Dazn garbage) or that they tried to swerve the rematch with Usyk to allow the undisputed with Fury but wanted to much money. He’s a walking contradiction and I kind of like him now
Usyk got 32% for the first fight as a mandatory and 50/50 for the second fight. Hearn has done Usyks 3 biggest paydays and there’s a reason krassyuk and Usyk don’t bad mouth him. He’s a hard negotiator but fair. Don’t forget Usyk accepted the same money he got for AJ to fight Tyson in Saudi
Simon Jordan doesn't give Frank Warren a hard enough time, nor Shalom for that matter though Boxxer haven't really put a foot wrong so far to warrant his ire. He would be hanging Hearn if he let undisputed slip through his fingers but I'd stil like to see them verbally spar.
Behave. Woods is pathetic with her soft questioning. Hearn toys with her all day long. Simon Jordan is someone who can cut through BS and lies. Piers did about 50% of the job in his interview. He should have said to Con Bent when he was asking him why he won't meet the BBBofC and Bent replied, they can do one, Piers should have said, "well what kind of ridiculous answer is that" and kept on asking him until he told the truth. He should have also said, "I don't care about what happened with your dad. No one does."
I don't like Eddie Hearn for pushing AJ onto me, for pushing Tony Bellew onto me or half of his terrible matchmaking decisions at DAZN, but Simon Jordan doesn't know half about boxing as he thinks he does. I appreciate he knows more than the average Deano, but I know vastly more than Mr. Jordan. His podcast with Spencer Oliver also comes across as terrible uninformed I actually think Eddie could handle himself against Simon, but he would rather save himself the bother and just have Laura Woods massage his bollocks instead (not that I blame him)
might as well ask why Jeremy Corbyn doesn’t go on GB News ‘Uncle Frank’ took one lesson from Hearn - he realised he needed a new media mouthpiece and Jordan is perfect for that, way more effective than a sweaty Bunce comparing Royston Barney Smith to Alexander the Great
