Boxeo, if you don't warm-up and stretch first, you have a great chance of tearing muscles, tendons, etcs. I tore my rotator cuff for not stretching and thinking I could keep up with this 26 year old. I brought down315 to my chest with no problem and up and then the second one came down and I heard a snap, crackle, and pop. It has been nine months since the surgery, but it is getting better and stronger and I don't listen to anyone as far as, "come on man, skip that silly stretching and warming-up". Young or older, you should stretch before, during, and after each exercise. I was in the police academy many moons ago and was introduced to stretching and it made me faster and stronger. I know it is boring just like doing sit-ups, but people, it is truly worth it.
Ha, ha, a good **** might warm him up. All that pushing and stretching and you even get some religion in there by praying, lol.
as a marathon runner i have never stretched in my life and have never been injured aside from a PCL because of a bike accident stretching makes you more vulnerable to injuries
you run instantly without having to even stretch your legs a bit? i got injured twice already by doing intervals without stretching first.
Yes, somebody should ask them why.... Proper stretching is an absolute necessity. It is what leads to correct muscle tone, incorrect muscle leads to injuries. You could hire a qualified masseur to do it for you, but then you would have to pay for it. That is assuming you can find a qualified masseur who knows his stuff. The best ones come from eastern Europe.
Watched an interview on "{ESNEWS} Floyd Mayweather: "Mike Tyson inspired me"...where Floyd said he does get massages. So he does do that. We all know he likes the massages :smoke [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwkH-La-moA[/ame]
I lift heavy, box, do cardio, etc. I stretch before and after every workout, and have never injured myself due to stretching, or lifting very much (minor injuries due to lifting). Nobody at my weight lifting gym stretches though, and I've seen tons of them get injured... Granted I think there usually cycling some roids, and try to lift more weight than there body is capable of handling, but still... I think stretching is a good thing.
http://www.expertboxing.com/body-movement/balance-and-flexibility-underrated-boxing-skills-part-1 A person with a more flexible leg will be able to kick much higher, with more power, exerting more force onto his opponent, while using less energy. He can do that because his leg is more relaxed as he kicks. Because his muscle is more flexible, it will not strain during the movement. If you take a person with a tight hamstring and tell him to kick up, his hamstring (the muscle opposite to the kicking muscle) will exert a negative force on the leg. Stiff muscles act as a counter-muscle when you move and they are CONSTANTLY working against you. If you’re not flexible, your counter-muscles will always work against you which means you have to spend more energy during movements AND your movement will carry less power because the opposing muscle is working against it. Naturally, your body will tire faster since your muscles are always working against each other. It’s no wonder that coaches in every sport will always remind you that a relaxed muscle is able to move faster and has the greatest potential to move with maximum force.
i run instantly yes every elite runner marathon runner i know personally has never stretched these guys run around 2:12:00 colleague of mine was often injured and when he stopped stretching he never became injured again
also one thing that stretching benefits me aside from preventing me from getting injured is it would not make my muscles feel sore for a long time after a heavy or a long run. usually my muscles would get sore or, if it does, it would only be just for a day or two. i'm an ordinary person and not athletically built. this is speaking from my personal experience of course.
do you run slow at first and would just pick up the pace after a few minutes when you got warmed-up or not? well i guess, some people are just tough. but i'm curious as to what some people in this thread were saying that stretching even leads to injuries when it is the opposite from my own experiences. for me, not stretching often leads to injuries. and not stretching after work-out leads to longer recuperation and soreness.
How old are you? When I was younger I never needed to stretch before or after anything. But now that I'm 30, I'll pull a muscle taking a **** if I don't stretch first.
