Ruslan is overrated. He gives the illusion of fighting in the Marciano style, but that style requires the ability to move your entire body to defend yourself while you're attacking. Marciano had excellent head movement, which Ruslan lacks. Marciano also had the uncanny ability to move his torso back and forth very quickly, making him incredibly hard to hit flush. Ruslan can not do that. Algieri will have no problems landing punches tonight.:bbb:bbb:bbb:!:
I don't see an anti-Provodnikov crowd effecting Ruslan but i would be utterly shocked if there were more Italians there than Russians. Just because you're a kickboxer doesn't mean you have a iron chin 3:08 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7aHx5wzIn0
I see more and more people picking Algieri to win this fight, good, that will make Ruslan's win even better
I love threads like this. My thoughts are that Aligieri fights to his opponent's level, similar to Rigondeaux. He will have no problem landing his punches but Provodnikov will get to him and in my view it all comes down to how he handles those moments. If Aligieri can smother him and tie him up.. Well then he can beat him. Provodnikov is likely an overachiever.
In fairness, Algieri has improved since then. I highly doubt that he'll throw a Sagat style uppercut from way outside this evening.
I am taking Provo. Algeria is a nice fighter but has not faced anything like Provo. Algeria doesn't have the punch to keep Provo off him. Provo is way too much for him. Algeri's conditioning will only enable him to take a good beating for as long as it lasts.
Beatle, did you watch the video you submitted? Peralta almost stopped Algieri in the 5th. Peralta doesn't have near the punching power Ruslan has. I am more than ever convinced Ruslan stops him, probably in the first half of the fight. If Algieri fights Ruslan the way the fought Peralta, it will be a short night. Nighty night, Chris.
For sure but in the Peralta fight you can see him throwing that left uppercut/45 especially to the body while dipping to his left quite often.
tall rangy, good technique, high volume puncher, quality footwork - Ruslan by all means can be outboxed he has the style to do it I think it's a good bet ........he's gotta keep turning and moving the whole fight though if he lets himself get bullied to the ropes Ruslan will slaughter him. I am curious how Algieri is when it comes to taking body shots though, if he loses I figure that will probably be why or a overhand right over a lazy jab.
The only way algeri wins this fight is if he lands a roundhouse kick to ruslan's jaw...oh i forgot! this is boxing..my apologies..
That is what I way saying bro:hey It will be like when Mike took risk to impress his hometown and then mistakes are made and RUSSAIN will win:bbb :smoke
The official thread almost never appears more than 25 minutes (usually on the dot) before the start of any card, or at least its TV-broadcast portion. So where the **** are you getting your "where the ****" **** at 9:35pm EST when HBO WCB is going live at 10pm? :huh
