For me the question Abraham had to answer coming into the tourney was IF he would up his work rate since he didn't have to drain to make weight. So far the answer is no. He no longer has the luxury of automatic home field advantage because he is the champ. He no longer has the luxury of making the challenger TAKE the belt from him. He doesn't fight like he realizes that yet. I am so sick of him doing nothing but standing behind his guard and waving the other fighter to come in like it is their obligation to fight HIS fight.
Unfortunately for his fans, I sometimes feel that way too... If only, like Winky in the past, he'd fight off a good busy jab while keeping that never ending guard.
I think pretty much any SM that has good boxing skills beats Abraham, if he can't knock you out against higher talented fighters he doesn't win period. His work rate is pretty anemic. The only way Abraham has ANY chance of beating Pavlik (Assuming Pavlik still has the desire and mental strength to still fight) is by knockout. Otherwise, Abraham takes a beating... Some I think overate him, but I would say most probably don't as they realize his weaknesses.
Everyone gave dirrell **** for slipping so much in the fight but did anyone see how much water was thrown on AA in between rounds...they were giving him a damn bath over there and not mopping it up, the ref had good calls all night but that one he missed.
The first time i watched him with German friends who were raving about him i was not over impressed.I agree he seems to take an age to get going and gives away rounds by sometimes doing next to nothing. As time went by though i have to admitt i grew to like the guy cos he always got the job done.He was losing big time against Dirrel but was starting to close him down. There is no excuse for what he did at the end but i still think he will probably win super 6.
Mark my words: Kessler will be KTFO by AA if they meet in the ring. Kessler is too static, too robotic. No way he can do a Dirrel on Abraham.
I think people are impressed with his power and will. There is a potential there for unholy carnage. I was impressed with him in the Oral fight. At the end he was looking at Oral's corner like "what? Do you really want to let this happen." However It seems like really bad strategy to need late KO's and the powerhouse getting outboxed is a regular theme. All in all, he is a great addition to the Super Six and time will tell.
King Arthur a very likeable person, but i don't like his style of fighting high guard, throws 10+ punches a round, a late-round fighter which is a problem for him since he sometimes need a KO to win after giving away the early rounds hope he increase his workrate against Froch :good
I'm horrified by the fact I can see what you say happening. That shows how my confidence in Kessler has fallen.
Actually, you may be right. Kessler appears to be a little past his best. Kessler/Froch was a hell of a good fight, but Mikkel did not look like the guy who beat Andrade 120-108 X 3.
