That's what rules a knock down when it happens. Not when the boxer stands up. His gloves had to clear the mat. Nice try. :good
I was going to post the same thing he did, Bute was on the ropes at ten seconds. I get your point, you are going off rule #6, the boxer rises and his hands clear the floor, but what constitute a "rise". I mean if you take a literal interpretation of rule 6 as you are doing, than he could literally rise against the ropes and be declared the winner having risen to his knees. then you might say, well rising to his knees isn't rising. and I would say I agree, I would also say rising against the ropes isn't rising either. It is clearly up for interpretation
Because it was more of Bute being dead tired then the punches of Andrade. The more likely outcome is Bute takes it a lil easier on Andrade and wins an easy UD instead of hitting Andrade and a million times and being dead on his feet by the 12th.
good post Give me a neutral ref and neutral judges and I like +300. ****. We might got a Golden Boy ref and Golden Boy judges. You know Bute is screwed of HBO BAD does a feel good story on the one time jack in the box manager before the fight. HBO is looking for an answer to the super six. What is more exciting? Andrade gets revenge with a KO or Bute wins a boring 12 round decision. You know Kellerman is going to be talking about "any minute now, Andrade is going to be getting closer and closer" I have a feeling that they are going to have a ref that doesn't allow any holding at all. Andrade had to take a bad purse split wasn't it 75 / 25, I remember Judah took that 90 /10 split and wrecked C Spinks. His greatest moment.
what? 11.5 rounds? wasn't round 5 an andrade round and another later round as well before the last one? round 10 I think
you may say being tired allowed andrade to do what he did, but it was definitely the punches of andrade that put bute on ***** street permanently for the remainder of the fight. being exhausted contributed to him not throwing back, but its the punches that made him go down, not fatigue, lets be honest the ref helped bute throughout the fight as far as allowing holding, don't you think with a different ref we may see an entirely different fight maybe bute has to stand and fight more and finally hurts andrade who knows, i just think its a different fight with a different ref
Yeah but whoever the ref is Bute is the one that can change things up in this fight. Andrade only knows one way; plough forward and hope the work pays off eventually. Bute has enough tools in his armoury to change things, and lets be honest he doesn't need to change a whole lot. If he just fought round 12 better he would have been fine. He can just work less over the first 6 rounds.
I dis agree. I just think Bute is too fast and too skilled for Andrade. I really dont think Andrade's punches have that big of an affect on Bute when he is fresh.
fair enough that is the question to me, if we have a ref that doesn't allow holding, and possibly even favors the golden boy / hbo fighter, will it make a difference in the result or does it only mean the rounds are a bit closer but bute makes it to the finish unscathed it makes sense that bute would be able to adjust more from the first one because drade only knows one way, however although I consider it a risky bet I think andrade is good value at +300, even though he could lose in a very flat looking fight
One more thing, if you think that the fight should not have been stopped, do you think that Cotto should have been allowed to fight on vs Pacquiao? In seems to me that there was an excellent case for a stoppage of the fight even before the actual KD of Bute. Of course it would have been outrageous to the Canadians, but many fights have been stopped in far less.
Cotto should have been either stopped in round 8 or 9 when he was running and not trying to win, plus taking obscene punishment, or he shouldn't have been stopped at all. The ref made his bed, I don't know why he let Cotto go through all those rounds only to stop it in the final round the first time Pacquiao landed. Besides that, they were different circumstances.
another interesting take I found. I remember thinking this exact same thing when these arguments first appeared after the fight when the whole thing was fresh in my mind: some seem to believe that since the clock was out, the only thing Bute needed to do was to have his hands and knees off the canvas. In any other round he would also have to be unsupported, look clear and steady enough to continue. Why would this not apply to the twelfth round when the rules clearly say that you cannot be saved by the bell in any round?
