U just know who these "u don't know s.. boxing"- guys are.. Nobody has said Ward doesn't have skills, still there are guys who are going crazy. The point is, ward hasn't done anything in years. He shouldn't be even close to top 5 p4p. If he comes back to elite level against Kovalev, he will be elevated to top3 p4p, don'tworry about it
In my opinion, it's a travesty that Andre has missed so much time due to contractual disputes and injuries. But that's why he's fought a lot of low level competition since Dawson. Because he was having long breaks and then he was needing tune-ups. His career was stop-start. But that was due to circumstances. It's not as though he fought guys like Rodriguez, Smith and Brand etc all after each other within a 12 month period. They were all tune-ups because he was out for 9 months, 13 months and even 19 months. Nobody can now accuse him of not wanting to take a risk when he's fighting Kovalev in 2 months.
I think he's got a good resume. It's better than Kovalev's and GG's, and they're in the top 5 of almost everyone's lists.
Very harsh mate. He didn't force Chad down. The scoring for Froch was a joke, and he had a double fracture of his wrist. George Groves is neither fast or slick. How can you say he ducked Groves and DeGale?
Because he hasn't lost a fight since he was thirteen years old and it doesn't look like he going to lose anytime soon.
Agree with all of this. He doesn't have superfast hands but fast enough. No big punching power, but thus far it's enough to keep his opponents honest. He seems to be strong on the inside and quick and economical in his movements about the ring. And he's just smart about how he fights. On the fly, he figures out what his opponent wants to do and spoils it. Preempts the enemy plan with a punch in the face from an unexpected angle from too close and then quickly turns them and if a follow up punch is expected, he clinches, but if the clinch is expected, he combos them up and dances away at an angle. I find his style to be elegant in a rough and unconventional way. Also, from what I can figure from his interviews, I rate him highly as a human being, which is not necessarily the case with all of my favorite fighters. The dude is just class.
Your clearly biased, he beat Carl Froch dominantly with just his jab, he was dirty against Kessler but I put that down to I.Q he knew what he could get away with. Dawson challenged him not the other way around about forced what are you talking about. Abraham had a belt and he took it. He had trouble with Bika but still beat him clearly. Why would he duck groves and dirrell both are nowhere near his level the only guy you may have a point with is degale. Ffs Bute got knocked out by Wards leftovers
I think hes mostly rated on what he did as an overall body of work, certainly cant really rate him on what he has done since Dawson since its very little Mostly based off of his ability and talent as a fighter and previous resume.
He goes no. 1 on the p4p list none of those guys have someone like Kovalev on their resume plus he's previous achievement he will have the best resume since Bernard.
