hopkins is his own manager...and in this instance...more than likely his own promoter. the fight is against his mandatory. has anyone ever heard of the guy before? me neither. anyone remember his defense against hakar? horrible. what network would want to buy another fight like that??? so now that leaves hopkins 2 choices....one, vacate and fight a bigger name in a bout that the premium networks will buy....or two, keep the title to remain relevant and promote the show yourself on a lower level network, win...and hope that you can land a better match up that is winnable before you get too old.
i think hes boring and i rarely look forward to watching him fight. ive been a fight fan for 30+ years, regardless of what some nerd on esb thinks a real fan should be.
I've grown tired of his act, both in and out of the ring. I appreciate his craftiness, recognize that often crosses to dirtiness, and wouldn't pay for a PPV for his fights. And I've been a fan for a long time, too.
Considering the numbers he did on HBO, he doesn't deserve to be on ESPN. Haters complain about how boring he is but he's still got half decent viewing numbers.
Nobody really cares about his opponent. And Bhop is only celebrated by hardcore fans. Casuals won't buy a Bhop PPV against a mandatory.
Everybody don't have Showtime so ESPN is the logical choice. The fight will probably be watched by more people.
there are many ways to skin a cat, im just not a fan of how bhop skins his. not saying he doesnt deserve to have fans, theres room for fans of all styles of winning, doesnt mean one is a better fan than the other.
Your the dumbest boxing fans ever? Why doesn't Mayweather, pacman, and mares fight on espn? Do you think they are trying to get on espn and settling for hbo, showtime, or pay per view instead?
Your brilliant, all the fighters should be trying to get on espn, they have it all backwards, I bet Mayweather next fight will be on espn, brilliant
Whats sad is rating one tv station over the other in some kind of ranking that they made you believe in. The more fighters on ESPN the better !!
That's kind of silly. He drew good numbers on HBO. It was just PPV where he didn't do well. Regardless, he should be fighting on Showtime! I'm not the biggest fan of Hopkins, but you got to give the man his due. The man can BOX!!!!! I'll be rooting for him in his next fight.
he fought on versus not that long ago. every fight aint a ppv or showtime/HBO fight just because of their name. who really cares what channel it is own, you think hopkins is fighting for free?
