I watched him on all of his televised fights, I do not care for copycat fighters who try to be a cheap imitation of Muhammad Ali, there was only one Ali. Carlos took care of business inside of the ring, so he did not want to learn English, his own choice, everyone has one to make. But to each their own on opinions of him.

so you probably don't care for the 80s, huh? Tillis, Page, Thomas, Tubbs, Tucker? And Sugar Ray Leonard and Larry Holmes on top of that mess.

Good fighters, but it is like when you are young and a guy at grade school talks about how he is going to beat you up, then you pulverize him , no more talking. Fighters win fights with skill and fist, you cannot beat someone with the mouth, unless you talk someone to death. in school i never feared talkers, but a quiet one, yes, because you do not know what they are going to do. That is why talkers to me are boring.

I do not think there is anything wrong with being focused, methodical, and figuring your opponents out before getting exposed yourself. I believe some look at Carlos as boring without that flashy style ... and I think some do not really recognize what he is actually doing in the ring ... If you are in a 15 rounder with him, then you are in for a rough night ... Those championship rounds is were its at...

If at all because of the way their careers ended .. I personally feel that as great as Monzon may have been he's become a touch over rated .. I feel the prime Hagler would be too much for him ..

I respect your opinion, but drawing against Vito Antuofermo, does not matter what you or I think the judges decision is what goes on a fighters record, not the opinions of the fan, also Hagler put himself in that situation against Vito. Monzon would have defeated Vito quite easily my friend, but to each their own. i think Hagler is over rated, pouting after losing to Leonard.Poor sport, sour grapes, oh, oh. He needs to act like a man after a loss, something you are taught as an athlete in school. A good example is Danny Little Red Lopez, he handled his two losses to Salvador Sanchez like a man.

Hagler whupped Vito in the rematch to be fair. Hagler would not have drawn with Juan Aguilar and Carlos Alberto Salinas either if you get my drift.

Agree Hagler took the loss terribly.

I of course respect your thoughts. I am also a huge fan of Monzon .. his toughness, his calm, his exceptional confidence .. both of these men are in the higher tier of middleweight ..

Monzon has quite a few draws on his record too. He drew with Carlos Albert Salinas the year before he won the title.

True, but you fight only what is put in front of you, he avenged 8 of the nine draws as well as avenging his 3 defeats. Carlo would have never lost to Willie Monroe.
