This reminds me of the Dawson-Adamek fight, Adamek was the tough champion, who was well known and had already gone through a couple of wars (like Froch). Dawson was the young, fast, skilled, but relatively untested, challenger (like Dirrell). In both cases the champion was older, tough and battle tested, and the challenger was young, skilled, and percieved to be the more gifted fighter. We shall see, if history repeats itself.
Difference is that Froch will not be weight-drained like Adamek was and that he will finish the job once he has Dirrell on ***** street.
Hyped? He must be hyped in Europe because nobody in America except for absolute hardcore boxing fans knows who the **** he is.Although just before the tournament, the Lampleys of the world probably will be hyping the **** out of him like they did Lacey.
You're joking, right?Haye was knocked down by Monte Barrett, who had been knocked out in the 2nd round by CLIFF COUSER before that.Considering how big Haye's mouth is and what he has actually accomplished in the heavyweight division,he would be derided in the US as the malcontent that he is.
And another difference is Dirrell is naturally the same size as Froch were as Dawson was a much smaller fighter.
He is being hyped up so he will look better when/if the Saurland fighters beat him. This IS Saurland's tourney after all. That said, Jack Loew thinks he is a good fighter and being overlooked somewhat.
People talk about Dirrell's talent because he looked good against bums/ tomato cans and KOed a guy (Hanshaw) that RJJ was just toying with to dust of the cobwebs. He is stepping up 3 levels in comp so naturally if start talking about Dirrell schooling Froch people will immediately think hype job.
I don't see him being over-hyped. Lots of American fans are picking Froch after his solid wins against Pascal and Jermaine. About Dirrell, he is unproven against top opposition, but he has obvious talent.
Spot on sir :happy , i've been saying since the day the fight was made that it reminds me of the first Ali vs Liston fight, the only question is whether Andre has the mental game to last the course, he has all the tools to deal with Froch and anyone who's seen the kid fight will know that already, that's why it's such an exciting fight because we could see a possible superstar in the making (Dirrell) burst onto the scene in a big way.
which is exactly what they should say to those that pumped up Dirrell, who will also then turn around and say Dirrell was nothing to begin with if he loses Froch is more established and should be the favorite here but it is no foregone conclusion, they have both been hurt in fights, but Dirrell was saved by the bell vs a very low level guy however it was early in his career. I like Froch to win this fight but stylistically, its really easy to visualize Froch getting dusted, I'm just thinking that even if there is a knockdown he comes back and wins. I'll keep thinking about it before I put money on it though I don't dismiss Dirrell he has skills.
I disagree, looking at some of these posts (mostly by americans) people are already comparing him to a prime roy jones and ali :nut. I'm not hating on him but I just don't get who he beat to be compared to those guys, especially since he hasn't even fought at championship level.
