Mosley is currently the number 4 welterweight. It's true.

Mosley became the "true" champ when he beat Margarito. Floyd was retired and the number 1 and number 3 guys squared off.

**** what Ring magazine says in their inexplicable inconsistency.

Mosley is the top dog at welterweight, no question about it.

Mosley is thee Welterweight Champion and you can not dispute that. Why is everyone so obsessed with what Pacquiao-Mayweather makes ? Im pretty sure you arent getting any of that revenue and if you are then show me how. Mosley-Pacquiao is by far the best fight in boxing in terms of actual importance and entertainment. Mayweather is not the number 1 WW or the number 1 p4p he gave that up by fighting Lightweights and retiring. Overall though since Mosley had Berto in January I think if we lived in a perfect world we could get Pacquiao-Mayweather soon say March or April none of this May **** neither of them need to rest that long. So in that case if Mosley beats Berto he doesnt have to sit on his ass for 4 months waiting for the winner to be determined and then wait another 2 months to start camp then another 2 fight agian. No reason these guys cant fight 3 times in a year no reason at all.

Where's the inconsistency? Their only inconsistency was in naming the winner of Wlad against Chagaev as heavyweight champion. That decision was throughly inconsistent and, notably, was never put before the full ranking committee. The Mosley v Margarito decision was entirely in line with previous ones and their own rules and standards.

Maybe it has something to do with Pacquiao fighting at Welterweight.

Shane Mosley is the champ at Welterweight. Just a hunch, idiot.

Mosley overrated?dont deserve to be mentioned along pacquiao? how can u even say that? this guy fought boxers that nobody would step in the ring with.Remember WINKY WRIGHT he fought him 2 times and he beat a prime ODLH basically this guy would fight anybody. Hes a legend without a doubt in my book. That being said, even though hes the true ww champ at this moment hes not as big of an attraction as floyd or manny so basically he has to settle for fights against guys like berto but if he wins against berto then he will place himself in a good situation to fight either mayweather or pacquiao.

Why not? The standard in the boxing community is that the Ring Champ is the recognized champ. Mosley is not the Ring Champ. Mosley also didn't beat all the WW champs. Mosley also didn't beat the Recognized champ. Those are three standards for crowining a true champ, and Mosley hasn't met any of them.

I think Pac should fight Mosley and then fight Floyd! Let's see the entertaining fight first then see the borefest second! I still believe Floyd will beat Pac but everyone will be falling asleep at the TV

Well ok I suppose we are both right in a way though. Yes you are correct he isnt the Ring Champion. However when Margarito beat Cotto, Cotto was number 1 and Margarito number 3 while the linear Champion Floyd had retired and obviously vacated the title. Mosley smashed Margarito who was the number 1 man so obviously Mosley beats the guy. I think most people with an common sense considered Margarito the true Welterweight Champion after the Cotto fight even if Ring didnt recognize them but Ring is overatted IMO they made Vitali-Sanders in 04 for the Ring title which IMO was BS. Whatever you say no there is no disputing that Mosley is now the number 1 Welterweight just on the basis of beating who when he beat them.

mosley is the top WW contender in reality, Margo was not THEE champ nor was cotto whom he beat

Shane will be nealy there with the wbc belt though

I wonder if it will stop becoming the "official LOL" belt once shane has it

    in Floyds eyes

**** RING MAGAZINE, **** THE BELTS.

mosely is old, but has been campaigning the last 16 years as a pro at 135-147-154. THe resume of fighters of champions he fought after leaving 135 (where he boasted 9 straight title defenses and a record of 32 wins with 29 ko's)

    luis collazo
    ricardo mayorga
    vargas 2x
    winky wright 2x
    vernon forrest 2x
    cotto
    de la hoya 2x
    margarito

so in the past ten years after leaving lightweight he has basically fought all the top fighters at 147 and 154. Although not winning them all, like floyd and pac who moved up in weight, he is BATTLE TESTed WARRIOR, FULL STOP. yes he lost 5 times, but he KO'D 39 guys out of 46 wins.

    He is a live dog.

There is no more to it.

. . . because Mosley is being considered the main man at 147 today. Irregardless who he lost to . . . he fought his way back on where he is now.
