Why is Haye the early (heavy) betting favorite over Chisora?

The Valuev performance is unfair to rate. It is a fact that he broke his right hand in the 2nd round. Wlad fight was awful and he was dreadful. But he has shown real power at the weight, rocking Valuev like never before with a left hook, smashing Ruiz and putting him down with one shot.

Chisora has no real power and is easy to hit. Haye is faster, hits harder and has better reflexes.

I am 100% sure that Chisora wouldn't have KO'd any of those. Chisora hasn't KO'd anyone around British level never mind Euro. Danny Williams was more shot than Enzo Mac is now!

    :good This.

What's the point? It wouldn't last 3 rounds.

He showed power in every fight except the Wlad fight, where he didn't really land. Valuev and Ruiz were credible. Harrison, as much as he is ripped here, was on a decent run of form; Euro champ/Prizefighter winner - not world level but he was dealt within as soon as Haye decided to.

    Good post.

Haye's the favourite because he has a better resume, is better, more powerful and faster. Simple as that.

    Valuev>Helenius
    Ruiz>Sexton
Audley>Williams (absolute shell of what he was)
    Barrett>Carl Baker
Tomasz Bonin>Anyone else one Chizzy's record.

Haye v Wlad = Chisora v Vit (The difference in points was exactly the same, and there was a shitty KD call).

Chisora gets too much credit for doing better than expected against an old (but still strong) Vitali.

I agree with Haye being the early favorite. Always in shape and apart from the Wlad debacle, always comes to fight. Haye's just a better boxer than Chisora. Although, this match is still gonna be interesting as hell. I'm excited for a HW match, I can't believe it.

Int you seem to be very passionate in your outlook of this fight but it may be clouding your ability to look at it objectively. I can see when looking at it from Chisora's point of view how his style could play into being trouble for Haye with his chin, pressure and workrate but i actually have Haye as a slight favourite in my mind and think style wise it could end up working in his favor.

I do think Haye has good HW power with the Ruiz and Valuev fights being the best examples, a opinion you don't share and we'll have to wait to see in the actual fight.

I agree with that and think that Chisora is a top HW who would be a difficult fight for anyone but i also think his worth and chin may be somwhat inflated based on two performaces against injured opponents. Helenius's right shoulder was useless going into the fight and he did hurt Chisora (which Derek admitted) in the 1st rd and broke his hand in the process. Against Vitali without his left Chisora was able to see all the right leads coming.

Haye's handspeed, defensive reflexes, counterpunching, and outisde footwork has a decent chance of making him a sucessful matador against Chisora's pressure. Vitali comfortably won that fight with little more than footwork (which is underrated and quite good Arreola, Chisora) and lead right hands. The right footwork can go a long way to reducing alot of Chisora's pressure.

Another thing is that Chisora has average handspeed, average power, throws alot of wide hooks, and isn't realy a combination puncher. When he does throw multiple punches it's more of a series of individual shots rather than fluid combinations. That along with Haye's reflexes makes me think that Haye will be able to avoid alot, counter alot, and not get hit with many punches that he doesnt see coming aka most likely to hurt him.

Agree but as above somewhat inflated due to their injures and if Haye has any self respect i am expecting this to be his best HW performace due to him losing all credibility in the British public's eyes after Klychko performace and the grudge/personal aspect with Chisora. I wouldn't be suprised to see a Mormeck type of performance from David, something actually exciting and credible from his CW days.

I understand the context IB, but at the same time, I think what he stated is what the odds-makers are likely looking at.

I actually think the odds are about right.

In fact, to quote my good friend Emanuel Steward, dare I say "The odds are exactly like I expected them to be."

You don't think intangibles come into play?

I think you overrate Haye a tad. His heavyweight power is real and he is fast, but I think Chisora has the type of style that can make things extremely uncomfortable for Haye.

Haye knocked Chisora out in about three seconds the first time.. considering how onesided that was the odds on Chisora now are pretty shitty

Haye didn't actually knock him down, though, and that was after taking 12 rounds of punches from arguably the best heavyweight on the planet!

Chisora was in fighting mood and properly would have made it 15 rounds with Vitali also no problem.. but out of shape Haye owned him pretty easily. press conference brawls often reflect the actual fights pretty well like when Bowe punished Donald one could already tell that Bowe was going to win a UD

Haye had a free shot bare knuckled at the press conference when chisora was least expecting it.

In no shape or form does that reflects how the fight is going to turn out/ It only showed that chisora could take hayes best punch and still get back up unfazed

When chisora walked up to haye at the press, he was asking him to repeat what he said to his face, that's why he held the microphone up to david's face - then out of no where haye cheap shots chisora and wants to proclaim victory and that he was acting in self defence

Definitely worth money on Del boy at those prices. I think he has a style that's all wrong for Haye.

Haye like to take his time and pick his shots carefully in a fight. A swarmer like Chisora is not going to give Haye any time to breathe or think in there. Him out working Haye is a real possibility.

Most important punch for Haye in this fight has to be his jab I think. He's going to have to be sticking that jab I Del's face hard and accurately and follow it with the straight right every now and then. If he can't prevent Chisora from closing the distance and getting inside then he's going to get rouged up and out worked.

Hayes going to have to throw a lot more punches and be a lot more active than he usually would. Should be a great clash of styles.

Haye' s supposed explosive power won't do much against Chisora's chin. Haye doesn't have a Klitschko jab or 6ft 6 boxers reach to keep Chisora at bay either. Chisora maybe a bit of a plodder, but he's still faster than Valuev and Ruiz, so you can take Haye's speed out of the equation. Haye's chin is suspect, Wlad would have stopped him if he didn't run. Chisora hasn't got big power but he won't need it in this fight. The pressure and accumulation of bodyshots from Del Boy will stop Haye,

Before Brittards attack you I would correct you Haye was on ultimate defensive mode. With his hands low just avoiding punches. Had Haye try to box he would have been knocked out. He did run too thou:yep
