Why Is It The Standard To Have All Major PPV Fights In Vegas?

    Why Not Test Something New....

    New York City
    Miami
    Atlanta
    Los Angelas
    Texas
    Toronto.....

    Even Outside The Country...


    Can Someone Explain This One To Me

    vegas has casinos and thats a big part of the income for fights over a weekend.

    My guess is casinos.

    That and it's already been ****ed into people's minds that Vegas=SUPERBIGFIGHTBUYBUYBUY and promoters are scared to even tinker with that notion.

    All down to the money generated in the casinos through the weekend. Very few places can compete

    Where else in the world are you going to hold a fight that everyone can come to and have a great time outside the fight? Then to top it off you have the gambling angle.

    The only other city that holds an event like a big fight as well as Vegas in the US is New Orleans.

    Because the casinos are willing to pay a site fee to the promoters, whereas at other venues you need to rely solely on the live gate.

    I would think you could negociate better deals from teh promoters perspective if the casinos are strugling

    Most of you are saying casino's, do you guys than mean that the casino's are paying the TV stations/promoters money for all the people that the boxing brings there? Or in what other way?:think

    They don't pay the TV stations, but they do pay the promoters. For most events, you need to pay the arena for use of the arena, which cuts way into profits. The casinos will let you use the arena for free, and for big events, will pay the promoters/fighters to take the fight there. For example, the reason Hopkins/Calzaghe got made is because Planet Hollywood actually paid an $8M site fee. The site fee for DLH-Mayweather was rumored to be around $20M. That's a whole lot of extra free money just to fight in Vegas.
