One thing i don't understand is... The Ring have Pacquiao rated no1 in the P4P rankings... But they have Mayweather no1 in their Welterweight rankings (above Pacquiao) ???????????
Presumably they think Manny is better p4p, but Floyd is a better WW (or would win head to head). Floyd has had more fights at WW remember
I'm not a *******... I don't even have Pac in my top ten favorite current fighters... Strange that out of everyone on here you're the one to call me that, since I'm a die-hard Toney fan. I also am a huge Mayweather fan. Also Zab Judah, but don't hold that against me. I agree that the fight with Margo is disgusting and I am of the steadfast belief that Pac should be fighting Williams or Martinez. However I'm not wrong that Pac is P4P #1, not Mayweather. Although Thread Stealer seems to have rightly pointed out that he isn't the consensus #1 like I thought. Also, just because you considered Mosley the top WW in the world when he fought Mayweather does not mean he is. He still lost to Cotto when he was closer to his prime than he was against Mayweather and won a questionable fight against Margo to remain relevant just after being outboxed by Ricardo ****ing Mayorga. I say questionable because Margo fought that fight about ten minutes after finding out his career was over, plus after a training camp where he was getting butchered by sparring partners. Anyway, just my two cents.
Worthless post when you say that 145 was 'uncomforable' for Cotto and then Cotto himself says he was absolutely fine with the weight and it wasn't a problem at allatsch
Ridiculous. Come on. Pacquiao being a better fighter now and his being at a higher weight now are two completely mutually exclusive issues. Pacquiao is a better boxer now because his art has more facets than it used to when he was little more than quick feet and a monstrous right hand. He also looks better than he was because he is fighting lesser fighters in a drained DLH, Hatton and Cotto. They're good/great but no Morales/Barrerra/Marquez. Pacquiao has to consume something like 7,000 calories and eat when he doesn't want to. There is no ****ing way he is comfortable at this weight. He's making it work and looking good but you cannot tell me this is a comfortable weight for him. That might be true, but Mosley had just been outboxed by Ricardo Mayorga who is at best a C class fighter. Hatton and Cotto, while damaged goods, were still in their athletic prime, while Mosley was pushing 40 and in the absolute twilight of his career. In spite of the crushing losses, although Hatton was not "brutally beaten", but whatever... people were still picking them both to beat Pacquiao, while before the fight fell apart a lot were picking Andre ****ing Berto to give Shane fits. Don't tell me that the wins over Hatton and Cotto (AND CLOTTEY!) were lesser achievements than Floyd beating Mosley. I don't see why Clottey was "always gonna let Pacquiao beat him" at all. Clottey had a good 10lb on Pac and probably the hardest chin in the sport. I don't know why he wouldn't open up unless Pac was beating him to every god damn punch, like he did. But I guess you know better.
I still see Pacman as p4p #1. Despite the catchweights, the questionable cherrypicking and ridiculous allegations, he's fought more Welterweights than Mayweather has. Mayweather never fought Clottey, Cotto or Margarito, and beat a what can be argued as an over the hill Mosley and almost didn't get out of the second round. One true welterweight fight in a few years is simply not good enough for me to list as p4p #1.
The consensus is that Pacquiao is #1 P4P... When you say Pacquiao beat Clottey more comprehensively than Mayweather beat Mosley, there are a number of different factors. Mosley was regarded at least joint #1 Welterweight in the world, whereas Clottey was not. Mosley turned up to actually win (he tried anyway), and not just for the paycheck. Clottey was coming off a defeat to Cotto...whilst Mosley had just produced arguably one of the biggest wins of his career. Pacquiao had an easy night against Clottey...but apart from the 2nd round, Mayweather beat Mosley a lot easier than Pacquiao beat Clottey...especially when Pacquiao couldn't break through Clottey's defense.
pac is considered #1 p4p, floyd is considered #1 WW. hoepfully they fight and we can crown the winner the king. if they both had the mentality of lets say a carl froch they would have fought by now.
