tobe fair, wlad did spend some time outboxing AJ too, and hes not exactly a great boxer plus was 40something frekin hell. parker has a better chance than you think.
I put $100 on Parker to win at $9.50 at the beginning of the year. He's around $6.00 to $7.00 now in my part of the world. I think the biggest negative with Parker is his form from his last two starts. There were mitigating circumstances in both but you can only go on what you see. What we saw won't be good enough. If you're a Parker fan though (which I am), you would know that he's got a few extra gears. He'll need to find them to be in this fight but if he does it could be fun. I didn't think there was much wrong with Parker's performances against either Takam or Ruiz. Takam was a big step up at the time while Ruiz was undefeated, well-prepared & fought well. For Parker to finish with his nose in front in a high tempo fight for a vacant strap after being behind early was a good outcome. That form will be good enough to do something against AJ (imo).
Takam posed AJ literally zero problems other than a granite chin. Takam DID pose problems in the Parker fight though. There's a clear gulf in class, I'll be VERY surprised if it goes further than 3 rounds.
Because Parker couldn't punch himself out of a wet paper bag. You just know your in for a long night when he's in the main event. I was playing chess, and drinking cocoa when he fought Takam, Ruiz, and Cojanu. He's got absolutely no power whatsever, there's no threat or suspense when he fights.
Apart from Takam getting tagged while off balance and briefly having his knee touch the canvas...AJ never stopped Takam from coming forward. This is a Takam 2 years older than when he fought Parker, and dragged off a bike in France to fight after a last minute call up. AJ knows this will be a very tough fight.
Conventional wisdom BS. Just like with Ortiz Wilder. It's clear in both fights that the winner should be favored, but not by the ridiculous amounts that are seen. I'm rooting for AJ, its better for boxing if he wins, but the crazy odds make me almost want to see an upset.
Yeah, I could see that happening. Hopefully nothing controversial happens. If the fight is stopped while Parker is on his feet, Parker better have visited the canvass a couple times beforehand.
All three of Parker’s world title fights have gone 12 rounds, 2 were majority decisions and he’s not looked close to dropping or stopping anyone at world championship level and his last stoppage win was 2016. Its not hard to see why he’s the underdog
Whatever the odds there's a good chance he will have Joshua in trouble at some point. He has to go for the ko when that happens because it might be a brief window.
