Why is Quarry looked at as a modern sized HW while his counterparts are looked at as "too small"?

I think you imagined that. Do you seriously think that Ellis, Quarry and Bonavena would come up as winners here if you did polls of them against Louis, Charles and Walcott?

We actually have Schmeling ahead of Quarry in another poll at the moment. But Louis, Charles and Walcott wouldn't be? Get real.

What I'm saying is things like this

    https://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=175303

    Or this

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/jerry-quarry-vs-lennox-lewis.149702/page-2

Where you have at least a sizable minority saying Quarry could go the distance with Lennox Lewis but would pick literally any other fighter the size of Quarry to get easily stomped by Lennox Lewis. And the reasoning would be "fighter X is only 195 pounds".

Another forum, but still everyone I saw had Lewis winning and most by KO/stoppage,

Everyone but two that I saw had Lewis crushing Quarry. Only one that I could see had Quarry actually winning and that's a poster that I never seen before who probably trolled.

So all you have is a minority who thinks Quarry at least could put up som resistance, while the rest think Lewis smashed Quarry. And absolute no one calls Quarry a modern sized HW.

So that's some thin soup to start this thread on.
