In the United States, particularly years ago, particularly in rural areas (like Omaha), the oldest boy was always nicknamed Bud and the oldest daughter was nicknamed Sis. My dad was always called Bud by his family and friends. His oldest sister was always referred to as Sis by family and friends. I even called her Aunt Sis. And all my cousins called my dad Uncle Bud. In old TV shows, the character who is the oldest brother is often called Bud by members of the family. It doesn't happen so much anymore. But it used to be fairly common. If you know a guy who is called "Bud" by family, he's probably the oldest boy.

Not the most memorable ring moniker is it? I mean we've had The Hitman, Sugar Ray, Iron Mike, Marvelous, Pretty Boy Floyd, The body snatcher, The Monster and now Bud. I never really gave any thought into his nickname probably because it was so "meh", it's up there with AJ for most little thought given to a ring moniker.
