MW is considered weak because its currently in a state of flux, with new fighters basically trying to become a name now. Look at the top 10 if you combine there resumes they haven't even beaten 10 World class fighters between em. The division Champ is a Welter that people have been calling shot since 09" Look at a guy like Lee during Martinez era he couldn't even sniff a title or top 5 ranking. Yet in today's MW division he's considered an Elite fighter. Eventually every division goes through it, its just a transition period from the era before to the next.
Bc it sucks. Cotto canelo ain't real MW lil g won't take on real challenges. Lee quillin Jacobs are all average.
Thats like asking why the 49ers suck this season. They just do, and the MW division is weak because it just is.. And i agree with CST BTW.
That's a 150,000 more than anyone else is doing. It takes two to tango. If GGG gets his fight with an actual dance partner, like Canelo, then we can talk numbers Though, I'm sure you haters will still give him 0 credit and make the excuse that all the PPV's numbers were solely because of Canelo.
Well use your head. That was the same thing said about the Angulo 400,000 PPV and Lara 350,000 PPV fight with Canelo and the Martinez fight with Cotto 350,000 PPV. I remember the word failure and flop thrown around. Now that the Great Hype failed to live up to expectations because he can't carry a card by himself 150k is a success. F-That It's a big FAILURE.
It's Little g's fault. He's a boring fukhead basterd. He fights bums but avoids real challenges. He won't move up unless it's a retired SMW and he won't move down unless it's a mega fight with the P4P #1 Mayweather, a fight GiGi has done nothing to deserve. He doesn't fight the best in the division (Quillin, Lee) but thrives only on low hanging fruit (Monroe, Geale, Murray). Presently he's hoping to capitalize on facing one of two elite welterweights playing at MW. Proof that the division is weak is a bum like Murray was rated top 10 and Golovkin selects an ESPN champion as what was at the time, his toughest defence.
Arguing with you is a waste of energy, but the only folk who used the word failure and flop are folk like you. 🙂
Same reason why the HW division is considered weak. Or same reason why the FW division will be considered weak once Lomo peaks, and if/when Kovalev/Beterbiev beats Ward and Stevenson, LHW follows. That's just how pro-American trolls' minds work.
A division is usually regarded as weak due to a perceived lack of competition. This can be attained by either there being a champion so dominant that everyone else looks weak or the fact not enough top fighters in the division are willing to take risks and fight each other or a division can be in a state or rebuilding after the demise of a dominant champion. It can also be a combination of these factors. In the current middleweight division we have a champion in Cotto who isn't even a middleweight, who beat the previous champion, who also wasn't a natural middleweight. What does it say about the quality in the division when the 2 previous champions came from a lighter weight to beat the best in the middleweight division? It suggests the division is weak. Martinez came up in weight having lost to fighters at lower weights and was good enough to be seen the best at middleweight, beating the top middleweights available. Cotto is now doing the same with the exception of facing Golovkin, this suggests middleweight is weak and lacks depth and competition and quite frankly it has done for a long time. Then you have Golovkin who has been ducked and is clearly the best in the division by some margin. Then you have Quillin a title holder who was willing to vacate his title to avoid fighting a top contender. It's not surprising the middleweight division is deemed weak looking at the reality of it. It was weak during Martinez's reign, it was weak during Hopkins reign, it's not been a deep division for a while, likely due to the effect of the creation of the super middleweight division.
Many of the champs have also shown big deficiencies, Lee is over reliant on his hook and a bit chinny, Quillan wont fight half the division, Jacobs has been showed up big time in the past and has beat no one and Cotto doesn't even fight at the weight. That being said you could knit pick most divisions in the same way.
