Why isn’t Porter considered p4p number 1 while Canelo is?

OP makes an excellent point. Canelo would definitely have multiple losses on his record if he was not as marketable as he is.

I would favour Jacobs to KO Kovalev at this point. I don't see how Kovalev can do any damage to Jacobs with his slow range finding jabs and limited stamina.

I haven’t got Canelo in my top 5. And wouldnt put Porter there either, all I’m saying is that you can make a convincing argument that Porter is number 1 just like people try justifying Canelo as number 1.

of course you can, theres enough people that dksab that it would sound convincing to. but you wouldnt find knowledgeable posters making that argument, or knowledgeable readers being convinced. anyone can make a convincing argument about anything, its who gets convinced by it that matters.

I can, Canelo shows some amazing upper body movement for 6 rounds and then he gasses out, like he did vs Jacobs.

But there are fighters like Loma, Usyk, Crawford and GGG who are more skilled than Canelo... there are quite a few more I could list.

Lets say Porter got the decisions in his 3 losses
He’d have wins over Thurman, Garcia, Brook, Spence, Malignaggi, Broner...

Now if Canelo had official loses vs GGG and Lara like he should.

His best wins would be: Trout, Jacobs, Cotto (washed up), Khan... not counting Kovalev as that fight was a farce

This is very far fetched but hypothetically true!
