1) Wlad and Price are not that similar in style. I like Price and rate him highly, but IMO he's still an unproven fighter and needs to step up in opposition. Thompson is a good start, I hope he keeps it up. Anyway, to answer your question - I don't consider both Wlad and Price boring. 2) I think Thompson will be Price's best opponent so far, but my prediction is Price KO 9.
I'm not even going to read that because the very idea that he's a Klitschko clone or boring does not dignify reading the rest of this thread. It's ridiculous.
I like them both, Price is exciting because his chin is still questionable whereas with Klitschko fights you expect them to win and they usually do win easily. Makes it a lot easier for me to find Pricey exciting when I'm from the same city as him, Liverpool having a heavyweight world champion would be excellent. The city already has a number of decent boxers and this would improve it further.
I reckon Price, Bellew and Dickens could go to the top. If that does happen, I think there's a good chance it'll mean Liverpool is a real breeding ground for boxing in the next 20 years or so. Good be good times on the horizon for you :good
Callum Smith could go far too, Bellew isn't too far away from a world title fight and has a big fight next month. I also think Kevin Satchell is very good and could go far, difficult division to be involved in though.
I agree that his style is very similar to Wlad, except that he goes to the body and is willing to let guys get inside, but probably because his best asset, his power, shows up early in his fights as evidenced by when his last 5 high profile fights have ended: Dallas - TKO 2 McDermmott - KO 1 Sexton - KO 4 Harrison - TKO 1 Skelton - KO 2 I'm no Price fan, but he is a good prospect because he does have a legit beginning of a resume shaping up.
I'm not sure about Callum Smith to be honest. I thought he looked alright in his debut but nothing exceptional, though getting the stoppage against Tolan is more promising. The good thing is though, he's only 22 or something, so he's got plenty of time to mature physically and technically and if he does get to the world stage, that could even be at cruiserweight, so he's quite a long way off yet. I think he'll definitely get to British level though. He'll be better than his brother Paul. Satchell looks good too. I was impressed against Paul and Chris Edwards. They're tough divisions though, but he's worth keeping an eye on.
I think Callum will go far, to go from Welterweight to nearly qualifying for the Olympics at Light Heavyweight in such a short period of time shows that he has a lot of ability. I rate him more than Tom Stalker who I don't think will do very well as a pro. I also like Neil Perkins but he is a bit old to make an impact now, he could reach British level although he is already 33 and has only had 2 fights I think.
When Wlad was fighting Price's level of opponents he was getting them out of there quick also. The real answer is Price is British. There's a very large British contingent on here that love to **** on Wlad's style yet Price's entire style is modeled on Wlad's style. Be interesting to see how he does against Thompson next week.
Calzaghe was ****ing boring as **** and the British fans loved him. It doesn't matter if a fighter is boring or not, if he's one of their own and he wins fight after fight the Brits love him no matter what.
