WHY IS'NT Pacquiao's life and death fights with Marquez taken into consideration

he wasn't destroyed. it was a 7-5/8-4. type fight.

 

It's almost impossible to take Pac's fights with JMM into consideration and not see the problem Mayweather poses stylistically, some people say that Pac has developed since the JMM fights which to an extent is true but up until we see him in with a slick counter puncher we won't know how much he's improved.

 

Well if it's just for arguement's sake fine, but what you just mentioned is something that a person who knows nothing about boxing say. Just because Fighter A beat Fighter B, and Fighter C lost to Fighter B, doesn't mean Fighter C can't beat fighter A. Styles make fights and is far more important in determining an outcome than just common oppenents.

 

A>B>C comparisons don't always work. I've read somewhere that Pac has stated that Marquez was a tougher match up for him than Morales. JMM and Floyd are both counterpunchers but in different ways. JMM countered Pac in flurries while Floyd usually counters opponents with single but clean punches.

JMM had no tools to beat Floyd with his style. He has no footwork to compensate for his reach disadvantage. He's wasn't going to counterpunch a counterpuncher who has a longer reach. He ate left jabs all night from Floyd. JMM was forced to attack Floyd which is not his forte. Floyd simply leaned backward, waited for JMM to miss, and then countered. JMM while fighting Floyd was also 15 pounds above his ideal fighting weight. You don't expect a 36 year old man to go up that much and expect the same speed and power. When JMM did land a punch, Floyd just gave a him huge smile.

Pac on the other hand is comfortable at welterweight. He has an aggressive style that has bothered Floyd in the past. He has speed, footwork, power, endurance, a great chin, a relentless offensive style. He also punches in wierd angles you don't expect. In other words, he has many tools necessary to compete and maybe beat Floyd. He's also in his prime and not over 36 years old. :hey All these qualities Pac posseses = PEDs use according to Floyd Sr. So Pac has already shown the intimidation factor.

Boxing math doesn't work, but in this case it should DEFINITELY be looked at. Because the "styles make fights" excuse cannot be used here. EVERYTHING JMM did to trouble Pac, Floyd can do better.

lol..fighters get hit and hurt all the time..just cuz it happens in one fight dont mean it will happen in the very next...i mean u could go back to corley-mayweather and than look how long till he got hit flush again by judah...now go look at how many fights he had between judah and mosley before he got hit flush again...

as far as abilities..floyd is on another level..especially when it comes to 'technical skills"..floyds footwork is superior to pacs and floyd will be able to control the "tempo" of the fight, thus he will win the ring generalship battle...

this fight WILL be a 'chess match' and im sorry to tell u pacquiao fan...to beat floyd u gotta make him fight..even pac WILL NOT win a chess match with floyd...

 

i agree...and thats why floyd should beat pac in a semi competitive fight but not nearly as competitive as these guys make it ..floyd will take it 117-111 117-111 116-112..something around there..than the excuses will start with how sergio martinez can beat floyd..

What is it you cant see port? I mean the footwork is there...as long as floyd uses his superior footwork HE WILL control the tempo of the fight..im tellin u man...footwork is key in boxing...

on top of that I believe floyd runs a very very technical training camp..THE MAN HAS ACTUAL TECHNICAL DRILLS ON "HOW TO FIGHT WHEN HURT"..HE TRAINS FOR ANY AND EVERY SITUATION...
