Why isn't Turkyi supporting the Parker mando?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by catchwtboxing, Aug 3, 2025 at 12:21 AM.

Why doesn't Turkyi want Joe?

  1. He is in love with Fury and specifically wants Fury again

    42.2%
  2. He want's any British fighter he can make money off of

    28.9%
  3. He wants Usyk to turn it down because he wants Parker-Ituama for the vacant WBO

    26.7%
  4. Consistent with his "no-runner" policy, since Parker is primarily a great boxer

    4.4%
  5. Mad at Parker since he wasn't "supposed" to beat Wilder

    20.0%
  6. Other (please elaborate)

    11.1%

Turki likes what he likes, it’s his money
So he does what we wants - sometimes that aligns with the sport’s best interests & sometimes it’s just what the man wants to see.

Filthy rich people… am I right?

The Saudi's are investing in sport and investment is the key word.

The return is to encourage trade with, and investment in, their businesses, as well as increased tourism.

I voted other. Usyk vs Parker isn't high profile enough to the cross over fans to get the quantity of eyes on the fight, required to justify the sort of purses Uysk made vs AJ 2 and the two Fury fights.

Usyk Parker is a boring fight and casual fans could not care less about it

He also in love with Fury, I would know.

No promotion thinks Parker is worth the money and work that would have to be done to promote the fight imo

Hey, aside from it being a potentially boring and easy fight, @catchwtboxing asked the question and I answered it. I didn't say I necessarily agreed with that reasoning. I'd much rather see him take on Parker than Chisora II or AJ and Fury III. Parker and Kabayel certainly deserve it more than they do. As far as the style clash goes, the fight would probably resemble Usyk-Bellew or Usyk-Hunter for the first 3 or 4 rounds, with Usyk studying and probing, until he gets his timing down, then he dominates him down the stretch. If he takes the aggressive approach like he did with Daniel, he could stop him.

Go **** yourself. I was answering a question, not agreeing with the reasoning.

I think it's pretty obvious with Usyk challenging Joshuax2, Furyx2 and Duboisx2 consistently as the away fighter that he is a TRUE CHAMP, how ****ing dare you pretend otherwise. He's certainty not scared of Parker.

You know what's boring? Corrupt sanctioning bodies with ****ed up rankings foisting Jaron Ennis- Karen Chukhadzhian II on the fans and the fighters. Or fights between newbies to the division like Benavidez and Morrell being elevated as the mandatory for Bivol. Or a Super Middleweight debutant like Sheeraz cutting the line to become Canelo's mandatory.

Yes, I get it, Parker is your fellow Kiwi, and he has legitimately earned his shot, so you're super invested. But I'm sure even you can admit that the politics behind the scenes more often than not, stink to high heaven, and hand undeserving fighters cut the line opportunities they didn't genuinely earn the hard way.

A lot of interesting and genuinely believable reasons listed actually.

I really think Turki is a big fan of Itauma and is pushing to make Itauma V Uysk. Also, I think Turki sees Parker as an uninteresting fighter that has little chance against Usyk.

Can also see Hearn and Warren having a lot of influence in this too.

As much as Parker deserves a shot at undisputed, this may not be bad for him. He will beat Ituama, imo, and that makes him the two-time champ he deserves to be already, which gives him an immediate legacy and more leverage for getting Usyk in later, who I don't think is retiring any time soon.

I saw one of Fa's videos. He has real talent at being a commentator and I hope he gets a push.

The Turk wants to make Usyk vs Fury 3 in 2026. That’s why Fury stayed in shape the whole year and didn’t go off the rails, he was told he’s getting another shot if he does what he’s supposed to.

Far better than a fight versus any of the four brits he has already beaten, three of them twice.

Have people still not realised that Turki is just a casual who only cares about sport washing for his masters? Guy has literally fallen asleep ringside at events ffs.

Theres not a lot of money in the Usyk vs Parker fight

Turki still looks at it as a business

Even if he is a fan first

I've noticed that Fury is always postings vids while jogging, on a treadmill, etc. i, too, think he's been doing it on purpose to show Turki he's staying in shape and ready to sign for a fight.
