On the H2H list, Lewis, Tyson and Holmes seem to be a lock between you, myself and brooklyn, so I think we're in the right realm of things.

Damn that is a great list! :thumbsup Although Lewis is too high and yet I think Lewis was always going to be too much for Tyson. Too big, too tall and too good of a jab.

Riddick Bowe was able to do something that Lewis was not. He beat Holyfield soundly and without doubt.

Lewis did the same thing, without losing to Holyfield. Also, Bowe was scared of Lewis.

I recall that it was money issue's on both sides that prevented the fight from being made. I highly doubt Bowe was afraid of anyone.

So Bowe threw his championship belt into the trashcan for another reason?

He was KO'd twice in his prime by decent, not great fighters. If he faced the murderers row that Ali faced: Liston, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Shavers, Lyle, Quarry, etc., I find it a streach to think Lewis would beat them all and not be KO'd by at least one of these guys.

He may have, but he'd come back and win the rematch. Ali also lost to some of them.

Good post. I agree, Lewis resume is pretty good given his era, but his era was pretty weak. What is his best win? An overweight Tua, an old Holyfield/Tyson? A disputed MD against Mercer who was coming off a draw to a journeymen? Bruno, Morrison, Ruddock? Granted he beat all those guys, but you don't think Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Lyle, or Liston wouldn't have all done the same? Hell throw Jimmy Young in there as well. On top of all that, he got KO'd by two decent but far from great fighters.

I'm not saying Lewis sucks, because he doesn't, he just gets vastly overrated by a lot of people. He might be 5 if you want to be generous.

We've been over this ground before and it gets tiresome after a while. Your biases are showing here, Zak.

    I couldn't rank him 3rd myself...Ali, Louis, Holmes, that's my own top 3.

no he wasnt, he was fighting good and took some big shot sfrom Lewis which ultimatley led to him getting frustrated and giving up, he said he didnt want to go through a 12 rounds like that like he did with Bruno.
