Because he is the best at what he does. He takes away all of your strengths and makes you look like an amateur.

That dude is **** ******. He ruins every good threat on this board. I was expecting to get some technical breakdown from knowledgeable poster on a great topic, instead this thread has turned into ****.

Survival mode is when a fighter gives up trying to win, even trying to fight and simply try to survive to the final bell. Except for Mosley, I don't remember any of Floyd's opponents going into "survival mode".

True, but Zab is Zab and survival mode is his forte. Same with Mosley in his last few fights, the guy fought to survive after first few rounds. FMJ, Pac, Canelo.

Op, I think you mean "How does Floyd make his opponents lose heart". Survival mode and losing heart are 2 different things, ie Roberto Duran lost so much heart in his fight with SRL he outright stopped trying and quit, but he was not at all in "survival mode", that would be implying he was getting beat up so bad he was just trying to go the distance.

Fighters who fought mayweather and knew they were down on the scorecards but didn't take the relevant risks to win or began fouling because they couldn't cope:

    Canelo
    Guerrero
    Ortiz
    Mosley
    Marquez
    Judah

    Here's why:

They are getting owned, and they are getting paid. It's incredibly easy to say look, this guy is impossible to hit, he isn't really hurting me or pushing the pace, so why don't I just cruise to the finish line.

They're mentally spending their checks by the 3rd round.

have you ever been committed to a sport that you've given yourself to for years professionally, and then decided to take the easy road so you could drink margaritas and dream about the easy life before the fight has even finished?

no you haven't - that's why you don't understand the mentality of being in that position

Marcos is thinking onesies and bouncers by that time, no doubt.

    I don't have to
you don't have respect for the sport you claim to follow because it's not something you have ever been a part of

if you want to post strong points of view, make sure you have a leg to stand on when someone calls you out

I agree with the above. I also think he uses the below strategies too:

    Body language:

He appears to never get tired, rarely gets hit and when he does shows little or no and signs of being hurt. Punching air has to be very frustrating.

Winning the fight before he enters ring:

the majority of the people he fights know full well they are not beating him. Hes already beaten them before then enter the ring.

    Pressure\energy sapping tactics:

He has this way of being in your face, while also not being in your face, while not punching very often. Sounds weird but when you are constantly waiting for his quick hands to connect, and they rarely do, you lose nervous energy always waiting.

    Just my thoughts

Like I said, that's not survival mode. Survival mode is exactly as it implies, trying to survive. If you want to see survival mode, look at Pac-Cotto last few rounds.

Not survival mode. His opponents just get frustrated.
