Look, to me this shows that you clearly don't understand boxing, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt before I tell you to go slap yourself.

Nah, you probably should go ahead and slap yourself just to make sure.

    :patsch

Anyway, I'll tell you while it will be a hard fight.

For one, Cotto is resiliant and tough. He's gone blow for blow with some heavy handed fighters in the past, (Torres, arguably Mosley), and he won't be detered by Mayweather's shots.

Secondly, Cotto, unlike Ricky Hatton, holds his hands high which will prevent Cotto from being knocked out with a "check hook," and it will make him more difficult to tag cleanly with straight right hands. On top of this, Cotto's head is tilted enough to where the majority of straight hands will hit him on his forehead in contrast to in his face ala Ricky Hatton.

If you watch the tape, many of the right hands Mosley was landing successfully on Cotto were behind Cotto's left hand guard and to the side rather than directly to Cotto's face.

Third, Cotto has a very effective jab. A jab is necessary if you want to get inside of Mayweather and keep him on the defensive. By nature, Mayweather isn't an offensive fighter, and if you pump the jab in his face he'll be reluctant to stand still and throw.

Fourth, Cotto is a smart fighter. Sometimes he can be a bit hesitant which is not something that you do against Mayweather, but it shows that he's not one dimensional and is in there thinking rather than just aggressively moving in and mauling his opponent with little regard for defense and strategy, ala Hatton. The point of this is that Cotto takes angles.

Fifth, Cotto isn't one to clinch. When Cotto gets inside he goes to work. He throws faster punches than he used to be given credit for, (Quintana and Mosley were both surprised by his speed), and he throws them when he needs to. You won't see him in there wasting a lot of punches.

Sixth, Cotto is a warrior. He doesn't give up and if Mayweather does manage to drop him, Cotto will be back on his feet. Mayweather is a cautious fighter and it's unlikely that he'll rush in to finish Cotto off if it does get to that point.

For you to say this is an easy fight though makes you seem like you have amateur knowledge of the sport and little to no ring experience.

With all that said, I think Mayweather rises to overcome adversity and wins a decision, but it SURE AS HELL WON'T BE EASY.

In the past my hatred for Mayweather which has obviously dissipated made me look past the boxing and chose with my emotions. I cannot retract what I already said, but looking back, and judging by his performance, Ricky was made for Floyd.

This is not the case with Cotto. Cotto is an incredibly dangerous opponent.

I'm going to wait for you to rebute my statements, but I think you'll find it very difficult to do so.

Cotto looked a hell of a lot better against Shane than Floyd did against DLH. At least that is my opinion.

man, all of you are whining and bitching about pbf not making the fight happen. you all need to shut up for a second and think clearly. as someone said earlier, it took pbf 7 years to get to dlh. now that he is the top dog, in comes an upcoming fighter who clearly wants a piece of the pie. why should clearly get a shot in such a short time when it took pbf 7 years??? at this point in pbf's career, money is what matters to him.
