Please go back through this thread and read BIGREGS POST and stop bullshitting with yourself. Your Thread dont make no sense bruh !!!

Hopkins is entitled to a tune up and he is even calling it a tune up. We dont have to pay for the mismatch whereas Floyds mismatch was a PPV Event.

Mayweather talks himself up and he claims greatness with his mouth but he hasn't done anything that merits him to be in ATG company. **** No.

When Mayweather actually fights Cotto, Mosley and true threats then we can talk, until then Mayweather is just smoke and mirrors.

BigReg ended this thread a long time ago

Because honestly, it really doesnt need a whole lot of explaining.

Hopkins has got done facing the best around him currently (JC and Pavlik, being the best at 160, the best at 168 ) and has openly said hes going after even bigger fish (dawson/johnson or adamek, again... the best at 175 and the best at cruiserweight for gods sakes) and a soft fight in the middle for a mid 40's man i dont think is too much to ask.

Mayweather continues to not fight the best in his OWN weight class, again... last fight against a top 10 welterweight 2006 (its almost 2010 now).... and billed THIS as some sort of super fight he so generously blessed the boxing world with, which is WHY people hated on it.

Fact is... the JMM fight was not a bad fight at all to shake off the rust, but thats about where it stops. The hate comes with all the other baggage that mayweather brings to the table, not just with him, but with this fight (acting as if its some LEGIT superfight) then, doesnt even come in at the contracted weight.

also, theres a bit more on the pound 4 pound 'king' as him and his fans call him, to take certain types of challenges, then a guy whos already in his 40's and is STILL gunning for the best in divisions. Their expectations are totallly differant....

really i dont see much of a comparison....

    IMO at least :good

    Bottom line....

its easier to accept a guy that has just faced

    the best there is at
    160
    168
and is going on to the best at
    175
    200

taking a touch up in between fights, being in his mid fourties and all

then a guy who continues to say hes the best in the sport period, as do his fans, yet the boxing world continues to wait and wait and wait for him to fight the creame of the crop in his division.... and its going on 2010 and were still waiting.

its just apples and oranges really imo

Point is - B-Hop has possibly never made 8 figures in a fight, giving him kudos for being an accessible fighter solely because he's not as popular seems like a ****ed argument in my view.

Losing to JC is regarded higher than winning against JMM.
God, We're so ****ed up in America these days.

Add to the fact that Bernard Hopkins fights men of his own size and pugilistic ability. Sure, Floyd may have a hard time finding men with equal pugilistic prowess, but he can stop feasting on natural 130lbs'ers when he himself has grown into 147lbs over the years.

You have zero ammunition left in this thread because every single point has been explained to you in full lengthy detailed descriptions as to why your thread has flaws in it.

Your opinion is valid but it is your opinion and the majority see it differently to you but everybody is entitled to their opinions.

I just dont quite see the logic in your argument simply because there is no argument.

Who is Floyd fighting next? No one knows. Who is Hopkins planning to fight next, a tune up and then who? Roy Jones Jr, so you can see why he is taking a tune up.

The guy is 44 for ****s sake and is still mixing it at the very very top level in this sport.

What your saying to me does not hold any relevance and it is completely a flawed argument because your point of view is a very narrow one only shared by those who do not open their minds up to see the bigger picture.

Mayweather brings alot of the hate on himself with the stuff he comes out with and because of his actions, the guy promoted a mismatch as a super fight to be shown on PPV and he still did not even have the decency to make the contracted weight. If anything he disrespecting the fans of the sport and the sport itself.

At least Hopkins is admitting to us that it is a tune up and not some super PPV attraction, come on brother open your eyes and start seeing straight.

Let me try to answer the original question of this thread...

Taylor, Taylor, Tarver, Wright, Calzaghe and Pavlik.

The man could fight my mother on PPV and he would deserve the easy tune up. How could you even compare Hopkins competition to Floyd's is beyond me.

You have a pretty jaded view then imo...

You seem to be trying to find excuses why Hopkins has continued to fight the best in every division and continues to chase big time opposition despite all logic saying he should be winding down, and trying to somehow discredit it.

    It cant be done....

Facing the best is facing the best.... period. Your saying that because one is popular he becomes mayweatherish in cherrypicking opponents?

    Ali was popular....
    Tyson was popular...
    SRL was popular....
    Oscar was popular...
    Trinidad was popular....

Hell... we can go with right now,
Pac.... he is fighting a welterweight right now who is better then anyone Mayweather has fought within his own division (welterweight) and arguably more dangerous then anyone mayweather has fought period.

using popularity and money as an excuse for not making fights happen is not the greatest stance when compared to true great fighters and what they do.
because while some fighters use their popularity and money generating abilities to fight the best out there, some on the other hand use it to avoid and dodge....

how you use it kinda tells the story there.... and its how mayweather has used it in a way that has turned a lot of people against him, and also has fooled guys like you into thinking once you become popular and a draw, it some how excuses you out of fights that should get made.

and back to the point of the thread.... its pretty simple, the two are not really that comparable.

How can you really not see the differance, between the hopkins tune up and the jmm tune up? lol... P.P... the differances are glaring. Nobody will say (rationally) that the JMM fight wasnt an acceptable fight for shaking off some rust... but like i said, all mayweather would have to do is say the words and we could have Mayweather vs Cotto, Mayweather vs Mosley, Mayweather vs Margarito (though im not interested in that fight now due to margaritos cheating, destruction, then suspension it was at one time a good matchup) i dont CARE about 2006.... we are talking about right now, these are fights that boxing has been waiting for and waiting for, and instead of making these fights happen, mayweather does everything BUT.... with the lone exception being Ricky Hatton fight which was a solid win (and one boxing had wanted, just... at 140, not 147)

So it completely changes the backdrop and environment in which the argument is being made in this case.

but whatever... im outta here, just thought id give my .02 on the issue P.P... its not like i cant see where your coming from, i do and its not completely off base eather, i def see your point... but i think you have to bring a little logic and ration into the picture.

Besides the fact that hes gunning for

    Dawson
    Johnson
    and
    Adamek

While trying to get a Mayweather vs (insert elite 147lber here) is like pulling teeth....
and instead of using his fame, wealth, and fortune to make the fights... he uses it to squash them (oh they need me i dont need them, why would i fight mosley he has 5 losses? gee... how many did baldo have? lol..)

it goes on and on and on so much that its tiring....

meanwhile, nobody is really asking **** from Hopkins.... and he has a cushy job at GBP to pay his way, and yet hes gunning for guys like Dawson and Adamek....

its really pretty easy to see imo...

but i will say as far as a tune up and just shaking off some rust, jmm by himself was not a horrible opponent... if mayweather goes on to actually fight the people boxing fans has wanted him to fight for the last 3 years.

Bernard made his name on two Welterweights fighting at 160, beating Pavlik later in his career seems to have forgiven him these "crimes"

Floyd made his name initially by beating guys like JLC, Corrales and so - all guys who were supposed to be too big for a fighter his stature to overcome.

The fact that he's fought ONE guy who was smaller than him and gets this degree of criticism is hilarious to me, made even more so due to Cotto rebuking a Floyd proposal at 140 and Mosley rebuking proposals in 1999 and 2005 at 135 and 147 respectively.

This isn't a "Bernard sucks" thread - this is a "You mother ****ers are irrational towards Floyd and hold him to a higher standard than any other boxer" thread.

Lets remember, Floyd might say "I'm the best there is" - he's got more stock to place in that then Bernard does for saying "I'll never let a white boy beat me"

Because Hopkins is an old man who doesn't think he's better than god.

So, because Hopkins is an aged fighter (still good enough to be ranked in the Top 5 P4P rankings, still good enough to demolish Pavlik) - lets give him a pass.

But lets forget about JMM being a credible opponent for someone who has been out of the ring for two years, because JMM is a 135lber and Floyd is a NATURAL (funny how revision works) 147.

Lets forget that Hopkins best wins came against....? Fighters fighting two weights up from their weight class at a weight class he had always been at (with the exception of his first ever fight)

Yes, there isn't any double standards here at all.
