maglinaggi was only surviving against a weight drained cotto.I,like many hatton fans feel that his work to the body will do the trick. You need a solid explanation??why,if someone gives you 1 will it change your OPINION about the fight? The reason i stress opinion is because thats what these boards are about.OPINIONS...

If Hatton wins - what has he proved? Nothing.
If Hatton losses - then it will be open season for the Hatton haters

If a Hatton fan starts a 'Hatton's gonna kick his ass' thread - no one cares cause he is expected to win.

Malignaggi doesnt have enough fans to start a thread

    Simple really

maglinaggi might not have enough fans to start a thread like you mentioned but there is certainly enough hatton haters out there to start 1

Agreed but I think even the majority of Hatton haters think he'll win this. I reckon they are biding their time and waiting in case he loses.

God help Hatton fans if he does. This board will light up like a christmas tree.

Americans don't dislike Hatton. And to tell you the truth I kinda like the guy. It's his obnoxious, condescending, disrespectful, national anthem booing fans I dislike. Bunch of punks they are. I'm sure many would agree with me.

Your point about the paucity of constructive discussion leading to a change in one of the participant's opinion is well taken. Nevertheless, I would express skepticism at an edge being given in body punching capability to a 30 year old Ricky Hatton, coming off two unimpressive performances, over a 25 year old Miguel Cotto, even in his last fight at a hard made 140, who is one of the best in the sport at both committing to that area and being effective while doing it.

i agree with you that americans dont have a hatred with hatton but moreso his fanbase, but what you have got to remember is that our culture in britain is very different to the U.S(e.g when our soccer teams play we boo our opponents anthems as a show of support for our man/team)disrespectful i agree, but most of us are steaming drunk by this point haha. The first thing that came to mind, and i still believe is that the fans were not meaning to be disrespectful to americans but just booing mayweather.I think you will see a different scene this saturday

Probably because the Oscar-Pacquiao fight is so close. I can't wait to see the Hatton-Malignaggie fight though. Will be a good one.

Booing of National Anthems is the norm. Who cares its only a piece of music, yours was written by a Brit anyway. Britons booing a British piece of music, whats the beef really?

Hatton lost his luster while Malignaggi doesn't actually have a big fan base.

Why is there little talk on Malignaggi v Hatton on these boards compared to immediately pre-Mayweather? Three main reasons.

    1) The fight is simply not as big as Hatton-Mayweather, which was possibly the biggest fight involving a British fighter since (and maybe including) Lewis-Tyson.

    2) There are a number of other big fights involving British fighters (Calzaghe-Jones, Haye-Barrett, Froch-Pascal) around the same time for the British contingent to discuss, which dilutes the amount of Hatton talk.

    3) There aren't so many haters about. It is a funny quirk with us Brit sport fans that there are a lot of people who will take an irrational hatred to anybody who is popular and successful whilst taking a shine to the "loveable loser". The Hatton hating prior to the Mayweather fight was far more intense than it is now and half the threads were simply petty squabbles along the lines of "Ricky Fattonz **** lmfao" "No he's not STFU noob". Since he actually lost a bout, a lot of the hating has subsided and hence whilst the fans are still here there is less pointless arguing as opposed to intelligent discussion of the fight.

Nonetheless, Hatton is still as big as ever in the real world. He sold 55,000 tickets in no time for his comeback fight and will still have half of England up til 4am to watch him this coming saturday (even allowing for the 10,000 or so who will trek halfway across the world to see him).
