Duran was the greatest lightweight of all time and one of the 10 greatest fighters of all time. I believe that if he would have had the discipline between fights of say a Bernard Hopkins, then he would have been the greatest fighter of all time.

Duran was not a welter. He was a 135 pounds fighter.

We all have a different definition of 'best' or 'greatest.' I believe a lot of the comments here are from people who haven't read your definitions (which are outlined early on in your article).

Very good article George...the first I've read by you and it's excellent...very well written,...descriptively and as an advocate....but I still believe that SRR was the best...always has been P4P....like everybody has always said.

 

His beating old and off night Holmes is good?He even skiped CW and he didn't fought Holyfield!He was good fighter but nothing better than that!
Duran was never good enought to beat Hagler,Hearns,Leonard,Benitez...

If someone like Floyd Mayweather got Ko'd in 2 rounds today (duran vs Hearns) he would be an absoulete laughing stock, but for some reason people seem to forget about Duran's losses and even have the nerve to have him in the top 5 P4P greatest of all time? LOLOL

Why is Roberto Duran ranked so high in the greatest of all times list when he lost to Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez. He's always ranked higher than Leonard.
