Because the two biggest stars in Manny and Floyd have lead by terrible examples !!

Now because of them everyone is taking advantage of it and it's really watered ing down the sport !!!

Floyd and Manny are two fighters that I am a big fan of and I am surprised that between them so many of those fights have happened.
I guess you are right in that if the two biggest fighters do it, others will follow suit

Catchweight fights are nothing new and have always been part of this sport. It's being made to be a bigger deal than it really is

I knew they were fighting but I just pressumed that it was going to be at WW. Please educate me.
Another poster mentioned that it could be to break it to the fans before bringing in new divisions.
If this is going to be between WW and LWW, consider how Garcia/Peterson and Pacquiao/Algieri were also between the 2 divisions recently I believe.

Still please tell me about Broner/Porter

Did they need to be made when so many other weight divisions were invented in your opinion?

There was nothing wrong with Geale but his chin. He looked like he was taking Cotto's punches well and then boom one shot on the button down he goes. You can either take a shot like that or you can't. I don't think it had anything to do with weight.

I was surprised that with his massive weight advantage Geale wasn't pushing Cotto around or bouncing him around the ring. He was getting outboxed, and I think Cotto was landing two to one against him. Cotto was just the better man in there last night.

At this point its starting to look like there wont be divisions and just agreed fighting weights.
Garcia and Peterson was not a unification fight, so as I understand, both kept their titles which were not on the line.
Had Peterson won, Garcia would still have been the Ring LWW champ, but Peterson could have argued he was the man having beaten him a few pounds over.
I am not a fan of the ring title and have questioned some of their ratings before, but that is just an example.
Would someone then not rate Peterson above Garcia had Peterson got the decision?

Who gives a **** about catch weights. As long as I see good fights who cares what weight they are at. Geale signed to fight cotto at 157. Its his own tough ****. Nobody can make an excuse. He chose to do it. Nobody forced him. Yeah the real problem is the day before weigh ins. If a fighter rehydrates to 2 stone heavier than his opponent then this is a much bigger advantage than a stupid catch weight. There is absolutely nothing wrong with catch weights. I wish people would stop this **** saying how much they hate them. The ****ing fighters agree to them for **** sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
