Why so much hate for Eddie Hearn?

Some people have short memories. Would you prefer the days of Frank Warren and his WBO/WBU extravaganzas?

 

I know I'm naive here - what's the story behind stub hub please? I don't get it and read often.

This isn't about saying something was worse or better. The OP has asked why people don't like Hearn and people have answered. We can spin that the other way though. you said he 'revitalised' boxing in the UK. Outside of a contract with Sky, what would you say he's managed to do to achieve that in your opinion?

 

One thing I will say to his credit is that he has some ****ing nice suits

 

But it is when there isn't a better alternative. It's all about perspective. People focus too much on the negative. PPV? A necessary evil and not down to Eddie. That's down to Sky having limited budget available for boxing. The fact Eddie got Sky interested in boxing again is enough. They'd pretty much sidelined it and then the Prizefighter series (a Matchroom product) rekindled it. Yes, you have to give some credit to the amateur system/lottery funding at grass roots. I'm not saying Mathroom is perfect, but someone still had to deliver fighter contracts and put the shows on. Matchroom have been far superior to Frank Warren's numerous dodgy outfits. At least they are a profitable/successful business and not continually going bust and starting up again...

 

I think he certainly has done more good than bad.

I like the interviews and the access that he gives. He comes across as more honest than alot of people give him credit for...

I don't give too hoots how he grew up hes clearly grafting.

Boxing in the UK is booming right now and hearn and matchroom have played a big part in why.

of course i would like it for free, or tickets cheaper but the big fights are happening over here now and if thats a the reason why so be it.

 

hes awful. he lies about his fighter beng the best on the planet when they are domestic, and when they get exposed he runs a mile and does the trick with someone else with a different audience.

 

You, do understand his job is a promoter?? He is supposed to be promoting his fights and fighters.

 

u can promote without white lying and then running.

 

I disagree that PPV is a necessary evil and I don't really care who is more successful in terms of a business. As a fan I want the same as what most want, regular competitive fights and no bull****. I don't need lively press conferences or stuff like that. If that's your thing, then to be fair Matchroom do a damn good job on that side of things. They could hype some people up for the end of the world. His model just isn't for me though. I don't like him and I don't particular take anything he says for true either

 

I think as a boxing promoter he's already surpassed his dad. I think people are just getting sick of him jumping into the ring after the fight to take the glory of somebody who's just gone to war for 12rds. I don't mind him doing that if his boxer can't speak, or put across their POV post-fight.

 

It's Eddie's face. It's Eddie's goddamn face. It's obscenely annoying to look at.

 

Like No De La Hoya in the ring jumping up and down when Canelo and GGG was announced. People pay to see the boxers, not their promoters.
