I've noticed that strength and conditioning coaches tend to love Romanian deadlifts and hang cleans. Why?

Just guessing it's because these exercises activate a high percentage of "functional strength". I feel the RDLs in my hamstrings mainly and the hang cleans mainly seem to work the legs, glutes, forearms and traps. That's assuming I'm doing them correctly, since I don't have a real lifting coach I sort of have to just go by what I see.

to be able to do clean and jerks properly and the associated building exercises like the hang versions, take quite a long time months to get down even with proper coaching.
