Why the reluctance to make a Superheavyweight Division?

Yeah, I'd say a good half of our heavyweights could make the cruiserweight limit if they were just disciplined, and if heavyweight weren't so much more lucrative. Just about anybody 6'3"-6' should fit into cruiser and walk around 200-215 lbs. But the problem with that is the highest cruiserweight purse ever was 2 million dollars (I think) and the highest heavyweight purse was 30 million dollars (or thereabouts.) A contender at heavyweight can make more than a champ at cruiserweight. Derek Chisora fought for a title once and he's made about twelve million dollars in his career. Marco Huck was a champ for 6 years and I would be surprised if he even made half what Chisora has.

I hear what you are saying about the minimum weight division. But here's the skinny on the 105 division. It sucks. There are just under 300 fighters in it and nobody cares. The WBC champ defended his title 8 times, is 47-0 and nobody gives a flying ****. We could water down all of the divisions and make them as talent poor as 105. We can create more places for people to hide from their biggest rivals and multiply belts, but who does that really serve? Not the fans. For the good of the sport, we ought to be focused on ways to make the sport more fan friendly like smaller rings, fewer belts, and stricter enforcement of the no clinching rule.

Looks like "Big Baby" is campaigning for his own division all right...the "Buffoonweight" division.

when Vitali and Vlad were champions there were calls from the bigots to make a super heavyweight division, but now that they have retired those calls are gone............
