HameD was a bum a british hype job and Over rated only by UK fans/, B class at best. Nothing great just a solid unorthodox B fighter. Didn't beat anyone of note.. His ******ed style had the UK's all excited to bad the Mexican monster punished him for 12 rounds... it was the best 12 rounds I've ever watched of a beat down.. and guess what Barrera moved up in weight for the first time to give that beating. NOT PRIME??? LMAO whatever BRits tell themselves to sleep at night..
u know what? my guess would be he underestimated Pac... (pac was huge underdog) and when he felt pac has done his assignment.. a part of his heart was taken
youre a ****ing moron.....10 years later barerra and morales and all these guys still fighting...and hamed was fading at27...ok, well if thats your story (excuse) ....the guy was 27, been in NO ****ing wars except 4 rounder with kevin kelly....so...i can look at his age and his fights to know he wasnt fading...he was favored in the barerra fight...not bad to be favored when you are "fading" ****ing idiot
Good question. Barrera arguably beat Marquez too before he fought pacquiao in the rematch. Pac just has his number I guess.
Whatever brits tell themselves to sleep at night is Okay with me :good Everyone knows the truth though.
After that response, you have the nerve to call me a moron? Clown. I make it clear that not every fighter has the same lifecycle, and you come back with: And it's pretty clear that you haven't seen much of his fights if you think Kelly was the only war he had been in. Augie Sanchez, Paul Ingle, Manuel Medina, etc, were all tough fights that forced him to dig deep. But thats beside the point. You dont have to be in tough fights for your abilities to decline. If you had watched Hameds career, you would know this. All you have to do is compare the Hamed that fought Robinson, to the Hamed of the latter days. He was slowly in decline. Thats what being faded is - having a consistent run of form which is below par. You ****wits, having only watched the Barrera and Kelly fights probably, would realize this if you actually watched Hameds career in full.
I agree with your larger point in the sense that reflex fighters can decline suddenly and prematurely, but at least provide us a couple examples of the prime Hamed. Whatever bit he'd lost I don't detect much Barrera not only beat him but exposed him. Every world class fighter past him would have witnessed a relatively easy blueprint to beat Hamed. MAB fought very cautiously that night, and I suspect Morales would have put a worse beating on Hamed. He was an excellent fighter, but I do think he gets overrated due to the excitement he generated. Would love to have a Hamed clone enter the sport, though.
Barrera was often a good counterpuncher, but not as good as JMM, who is probably #2 of this generation behind Floyd. Barrera can hit hard, but not as hard as Morales, who could get anyone's respect at 130 and below with a single punch. He also didn't have Morales' height or reach, so he couldn't use the jab as well as Morales, or haves the reach to counter Pacquiao's lefts the way Morales could. It's not because Barrera was bad in any area, he's not. He's as solid and good an all-around fighter as you can get. But he also wasn't exceptional in the areas that JMM and Morales were, which is what let them fight on better terms with Pacquiao.
Well I like morales the best obviously. But JMM and Morales had the advantage of watching Barrera get destroyed in the first fight so they took Pac very very seriously. The rematch was pretty boring from what I remember with Barrera fighting to survive and make it to round 12 and not really going all out. Everyone mentioning the better right hands from JMM and Morales are spot on too though.
:deal Best answer as to why MAB a great fighter himself might if had problems with Pacman even if MAB might of been in his prime. In the rematch he didnt look bad at all jabbed alot and actually beat Pacman inacouple of exchanges. Yes just like Oscar and Cotto. Powerful jabbers and left hooks. In the past before I ever knew of this Id wonder why Oscars left hook was so powerful. Natural lefty.
