Hearns lost to Pryor in the amatures.

It (I think) comes from the fact that when people are discussing Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and Duran somebody always wants to throw a "little known fact" in to appear knowledgeable on the subject. It always seems to be this Leonard-Pryor BS, Leonard are earning megabucks fighting Duran and Hearns at 147 while Pryor was a relatively unknown 140 champ trying to raise his profile by calling out Leonard. By the time Pryor had a "name" Leonard was retired, the fact they didn't fight has nothing to do with Leonard being scared of Pryor.

The thing is, it's not even that "little known". They just think it's little known because they watched it on an HBO documentary, which accounts for about 75% of their knowledge of boxing history.

Congratulations you ignorant ****heads, you've succeeded in making me dislike a well made documentary series.

They were close fights and Pryor was 3 years older than Hearns, that can be a big difference at that age.

I think a fight at 140 with Duran would be a hell of a fight, I see Duran fighting in the middle distance and catching Pryor with counters on the way to a UD.

I think Leonard and esp. Hearns would just be too big for Pryor in the pros.

Hearns was only 17 at the time. Pryor was like 20 21. I wouldnt read much into that fight.

If Pryor really wanted them bad as a pro he should have jumped up to 147 have a few fights there and basically the public would have demanded the fight.

Actually I read it in Pryor's autobiography idiot and was told by someone that used to be in Leonard's camp about there sparring sessions-they sparred when they were both in the AMs and when they were both pros.
