Why does he have to? Pacman can fight anyone he wants to. What has Cotto done to deserve a fight with the top guy in boxing now?
If Cotto doesn't want to go down a bit to 143-144 in weight against Pac which is a lightweight to begin with. Then he's throwing away a big paycheck.

Cotto say 145 or up and roach say 143-144 pounds but in thailand where pac was welcome as a hero, he says is willing to fight mayweather, mosley or cotto at 140 to 145 pounds....may be after cotto vs clottey fight...arum will start meeting this poeple....let see....:thumbsup
Don't knock Cotto my friend, this guy has fought some tough contenders at the beginning of his career, where he was truely tested. He came back from being rocked and dropped, to knocking the other guy out. That's heart.
True, he's got that warrior mentality, he's fought Mosley, Marg, and now will fight Clottey. He's also an exciting fighter, right up there with Pac and Darchinyan.
