I have to agree and strongly favour Whyte to beat Ortiz. I think Whyte scored a greater win in his last fight than if he won this one. I wouldnt be shocked if Whyte either scored a wide UD or if he decides to go for it and stops Ortiz. Whyte seems like a HW that other Heavys dont seem too interested in facing
Lol. when did Joshua with only 21 fights duck Ortiz? He has fought bigger fights against IMO greater HWs. So what if Ortiz nearly stopped Wilder. He nearly stopped M Scott as well. Alot is about perception. For example, if a fighter gives a known name fighter a tough fight they are suddenly thought of in higher regard, but if a fighter gets beaten clearly they are then not as highly rated. I rate Whytes win over Brown every bit as much as Wilders over Ortiz and think either could be argued as greater, but Whyte scored a one sided victory whereas Wilder lost some rounds. I think Whyte would outbox Ortiz
The Whyte hype comes from Whyte beating an undefeated big punching former HW champ. What top undefeated HWs has Ortiz got a win over? You say look at Whytes last 3 fights but look at Ortiz which were M Scott (who lost to Chisora who Whyte holds a close win over), Allen coming off a loss to Whyte no less and Martz
Ortiz can box at least for 6 rounds (after that he gasses because is old AF). Whyte cannot box, he is a barroom brawler, that is the difference here.
But Wilder wants nowt of Whyte, even for 2x his best payday. Live boxer in his prime, who can't be intimidated.. No thank you.
Ortiz v Whyte I think would be a pretty good fight.. Whyte is pretty over rated but he has heart and desire which makes him dangerous plus his shoulder looks like it is coming good.. Ortiz came with in a hair of beating Wilder and it was only his lack of size (Wilder was able to hang on) and the fact he gassed that he should be holding the WBC strap right now. Given how slow that fight was (remember how many times the crowd boo'd) Ortiz show his biggest weakness being his gas tank. Ortiz unlike Browne came in in super shape (bit like Wlad) so he gave himself every chance.. I still fancy Ortiz if he comes in the same shape as the Wilder fight but as Haye and Browne now knows age catches up with you some time and there isn't anything you can do about it.. If Whyte can survive the first 6 or so rounds and keeps the pace up (unlike the Wilder - Ortiz fight) then I think Ortiz could be ripe for the picking.. Ortiz would need to break down Whyte quick otherwise he will gas..
Ortiz wasn't gassed when he was stopped in the 10th, where the hell has this narrative come from? You want to see gassed, look the 5th and 6th rounds of AJ-Wlad, now that was gassed.
He was done, he punched himself out trying to get Wilder out of there, plus getting knocked down in the 5th. IF he wasn't gassed Wilder would have been wriggling around on the canvas after getting his special check up but Ortiz was spent and spent half a round looking at Wilder looking at him.. Once Wilder recovered Ortiz was pretty much just trying to stay alive..
