The PR battle begins with Wallin's promoter: https://www.skysports.com/boxing/ne...tyson-fury-fight-looming-it-would-not-be-fair "It would not be fair to the sport of boxing for Dillian Whyte to have an injury, whatever it is, and as a result of that, to be able to be mandated to fight Fury.
You'd like to think the decent thing to do would be to reschedule the fight but this is Hearn and Whyte we're talking about, they hid a failed drugs test from Rivas, so integrity isn't a word I'd associate them with.
Happy to support Fightzone as thar is trying to fund the grass roots of the sports. DAZN is trying to get Eddie and Co richer. So much more critical of them
I have bought a 1 year subs. to Fightzone because I want to support the smaller shows in the UK. Eddie Hearn told us that the Matchroom Boxing Shows will be a lot better on DAZN. Its hard for me to see.
If there was ever an occasion where you'd get a tactical injury and offer stepaside money to the contracted opponent, this would be it. Even if the injury is genuine, Whyte was in a shitty situation here and I can't imagine his management or Matchroom were thrilled with where they'd left him. They thought he'd signed up to fight a very dangerous opponent expecting to have to wait for Fury v AJ to happen. As it's turned out, he's risking everything v Wallin when he's all but bang on to be Fury's next opponent for a world title shot. Difficult to imagine there isn't an explicit clause covering exactly this scenario. I'm far from a boxing contract expert but something like "if an injury is detected to Dillian no less than 10 days before the event, Matchroom reserve the right to cancel the event and pay a fee of $xxxxxx to Otto, thereby terminating the obligations on both parties" would strike me as possible/likely.
A cynical pull out with a fake injury against an opponent who could well have have beaten him- sums up Dillian's smoke and mirrors career so far and makes perfect sense. He's a cheat in and out of the ring (parker head but, original 2 year ban, b sample fiasco with test fail not disclosed to opponent, the list goes on..) so it's not a big surprise he decided to duck Wallin at the first chance of a big pay day vs Fury, even though he has had years of pay days his ability never warranted. I doubt he will get the Fury fight, my instinct just tells me something will go wrong for him there and that fight will for one reason or another not materialize.
Not really surprising is it. They thought AJ would come through Usyk leaving the door open to an undisputed fight next year so a 1 or 2 fights like this would keep Whyte busy whilst against credible opponents. Usyk has then thrown a spanner in the works. Common sense from Whyte really. He got bingo'd by Povetkin which stopped him right in his tracks and then had go through another training camp to put that result right which he duly did. Why risk it again against a good opponent when your very next in line ?
Beats me how some can be patting Whyte on the back for the duck when Otto Wallin has been shafted a week out along with the fans who bought the tickets etc.
Fisher has said he would be willing to step in and fight Wallin - winnable fight for Fisher who has shown potential against low level opposition.
Quite simple. You still have a DAZN subscription for 30 rolling days. What does the guy expect? Bit of a stupid question. What was stopping the guy from subscribing on the night of the bout?
