If Povetkin was 4-5 years younger I'd pick him without hesitation. But age is catching up fast with Pov. I think that if he can turn the clock back he can still win. Might be a big 'if' though.
Povetkin is 40 years OLD and the fight with Hunter probably took something out of him. FORTY YEARS OLD ....... that's really ****ing old for a heavyweight of Povetkin's style of fighting. Whyte is nothing special at all but he's in his prime. He needs to be in good shape for the fight. But if he can't beat Povetkin he might as well pack it in. Anyone who wants to be regarded as a contender ought to be able to beat an old has-been like Povetkin.
It's a bit of a gunfight this one. Povetkin is looking more vulnerable by the fight but he still packs a wallop early. He reminds me of an elite version of Eddie Neilson, (Help me out here British posters of a certain age !). If Whyte is in shape he should be standing when the smoke clears but if he comes in in poor shape he could be toast in the first 3 or 4. Whyte has just split with Mark Tibbs too. Very interesting fight.
Whyte KO/TKO mid rounds Whyte was atrocious last time out but I'd expect him to come in fully prepared for this one. Povetkin has been getting caught way too much in his last 5 fights to be taking a big hit from this fight. If Whyte comes to the scales out of shape then Povetkin UD or TKO rounds 9-12 I can see Povetkin dropping Whyte early though
Sasha is well over the hill, but he has everything in his arsenal to beat Whyte. Outside of the headclash, Parker showed how vulnerable Whyte is. Povetkin is arguably the most aggressive small fighter in the division. I have Povetkin within 9. Rounds 1-2 - Povetkin Rounds 3-5 - Whyte Rounds 6-8 - Whyte gasses but still lands on Povetkin Round 9 - Whyte lumbering around the ring and eats accumulative punches from Povetkin KO 9 - Povetkin
Yeah you should really brush up a bit on your history. He’s taken a lot of big shots. His chin is better than most in the top 10.
He has taken a few i agree but he has been down, or wobbled fairly often for man of his size No need to brush up on history, its just an opinion Stop being so touchy over MR fighters Im no hater of Hearn or his stable so direct it back at people who probably justify it I like boxing, not a promotion
If Whyte losses to old washed up smaller Povetkin in his promoters LITERAL backyard he needs to seppuku himself.
That Whyte,, who's constantly whining about not getting a title shot, is a tossup fight with an over the hill has been in his forties speaks volumes about heavyweight depth in the division.
I don't see Whyte taking him out in 6 rounds. I see him stopping him late or winning on points though with both men taking a trip to the canvas along the way.
