No semi-decent boxer in his prime would be outboxed by fury for 12 rounds.

I fully agree, I've always said he is durable more than anyone gives him credit for. I firmly believe he can take a punch better than most heavies...

The real gamechanger here is that he can survive a good shot WHILE returning a massive shot that no one else can survive easily.

Food for thought for the ignorant on here talking about skilled heavies, and AJ this.... Wilder is not a special boxer, but his attributes must be respected with the highest degree at all times when you fight him.

If you try shaking your head when he hits you as if to say "Try harder Wilder"... then you will get what you wish for and good luck getting up off the canvas.

Ortiz lit him up and he took it. Plus he showed smarts in tying him up. Molina cracked him as well and he took it.

What was really impressive was the Fury fight. DW was 205 during the fight, damn near cruiserweight. Fury, while not a huge puncher, was what 260 6'9? That's still a huge man. There were a bunch of sequences where DW was getting lit up and he took it all on the chin and kept coming.

Listen if AJ hits him like that he is going down but he has proven to me his chin can handle getting cracked.

This is about right. I thought his chin was toilet paper but its clear he can take a decent punch. Whether he's got a "good" chin is another matter entirely. Most of the guys he faced weren't exactly big hitters.

That's fine aj can punch but so can wilder who could spark him as well. To deny that is ridiculous.

His chin isn't as bad as the Sconiers and Nichols led us to believe, I don't think Breazeale caught him that cleanly but he took a pretty decent shot off of Ortiz, though it wasn't a huge shot, it was big enough to suggest Wilder has an average chin at worst.

Same with Fury being dropped by Cunningham and Pajkic, those knockdowns I believe were more due to a lack of concentration than a weak chin. He took a huge right hand and left hook from Wilder and still got up, his chin is decent but his powers of recovery are almost supernatural.

Joshua too, doesn't seem to have the awful chin the amateur knockdowns vs Nistor and Whyte and the sparring incident where Price dropped him suggested. The left hook that Whyte wobbled Joshua with in hindsight wasn't as bad as first thought as that left hook from Whyte has since proven to be able to crack quality chins like Parker and Chisora. Also the Wlad right hand Joshua took would of KO'ed anyone with a china chin but Joshua got right back up. Joshua has a decent chin, perhaps even good.

Yeah no way Breazeale could have carried on, that fight was over.

I agree with the OP though. All this fight did was confirm that Wilder has a big right hand. We know if he lands on AJ, Fury, Whyte etc the same as he did on Breazeale, then whoever it is, is going down. That's the shot to look out for.

It's the same Wilder that got a boxing lesson in his previous fight and got a robbery decision in his favour.

Credit for the win and the manner of the stoppage but considering who it was against, then yeah it's overrated.

    Hahaha hey Max :)

Nah I'm loyal to my fav fighters, that's the whole point. But I am more objective than most people on here, and I give credit where it is due... Whyte better have a good gameplan if he gets his wish against Wilder.

He couldn’t stand up without support.

You think that is ‘ok’ do you?

Absolutely the opposite, He gets buzzed at the slightest clean punch!

Ortiz really should have had him out of there but Wilder was allowed to slump all over him and smother Ortiz by the official.
No way does he survive being clipped by Joshua or Whyte for that matter.

Wilder is the very definition of the phrase ‘Glass Canon”
