What is he supposed to say?!!! Oh," I got schooled for most of the fight and should've lost on the scorecards but I almost knocked him out twice" ? Yes that's the truth but nobody wants to hear a guy sayin that he lost. The problem is that DW instead of saying "I thought I won the fight" and then following up with "but it was a draw and im looking forward to knocking him out in the rematch and not leaving it in the hands of the judges" which would be enough. He's going into all this nonsense with excuses he knows damn well he don't even believe and all he's doing is making himself look like a fool instead of creating hype for a rematch like he thinks he is. The dude is not the sharpest tool.
Most of what you wrote isn't even 'excuses'..lol Some were observations, adjustments, or him just thinking he did enough to get the win.. How is I'm still the champ an excuse? lol And you said the same thing in 4 different ways regarding how he felt about the knockdowns which isn't an excuse either...lol
Good post however I don’t agree with the “getting a pass” portion. I don’t believe anyone is giving him a pass other than the undesirable draw. I don’t see it as unhealthy to think you could’ve performed better if certain items leaned your way and maintaining a particular self belief is optimal in this sport even if the masses feel your explanations are excuses. Fury did what most expected and Wilder was lucky to drop him twice to seemingly justify a draw and rematch. It’s not like Fury pummeled him pillar to post, it was a classy humbling of a limited one dimensional athlete with above average power. I still believe the rematch would be intriguing and as boxing advocates we should support these guys instead of chastising them for making excuses pertaining to what they do to put food on the table for their families. In Wilders case he probably only has this platform available to him to maximize profits for his immediate circle.
I don't understand how you can discredit a broken and swollen foot. Haye is a mobile fighter. Not only did the broken toe hurt his mobility but he couldn't push off of it properly when punching.
Wilder gets a pass because no one cares about him. He has everything to become a star yet he seems so average and that's why people forgot him.
100% correct. No one even takes notice of Wilder's gibberish because he's not that relevant in the division.
Exactly. If Wilder comes up with a new excuse, let's say Tyson had something on his gloves that affected his vision, no one's going to take the effort to seriously refute it because it doesn't need to be refuted, and by the time you've done so he's come up with another excuse equally as stupid. He's not being given a pass because no one is accepting his nonsense; they're just ignoring it.
I thought Price used to be a plumber? You can't be a plumber with an IQ score that low. Only thing you can reliably do is to just haul some heavy stuff around, be a cartboy/bagboy at a supermarket or something other of that note.
Just regarding the ref not stopping the fight in the 12th, I thought when Fury went down and was lying on his back, that the ref was immediately going to pull the gun shield and wave the fight off. Wilder has a point we've all seen fights stopped at that point. The ref actually made a great call by giving Fury the chance to get up. We all saw what happened and the call was justified.
The “I was concerned about my own power” is likely the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life! And not only is it stupid, it’s also contradicting as ****! Let’s not forget this is the guy that “want’s a body on his record” and “When I step into the ring I’m the Bronze Bomber, and he have no mercy!”. So which is it Deontay? You wan’t to kill a man, or save them all from your almighty power? Oh wait, I know! One only have too look up the interview on Arthur Szpilka, where he literally sat there with a smile on his face, because he “killed him for 4-5 seconds”. Wilder is stupid and, quite frankly, a POS.
