Great to see Wilder back. I think he got a lot of new fans after the last fight with Fury, I include myself into them. Always thought he had poor technique, always thought he had power but now we know he also has heart
"Povetkin" According to your CV calculator this is Whyte's best win, yet that version of Povetkin was dangerously shot and in no way fit to fight. Dave Allen would have destroyed him and that's not an exaggeration. This is apparently why you believed that Whyte would beat Fury; you have no idea how to judge a record. Wilder's wins over Ortiz and Stiverne 1 > any win Whyte has. Losses also matter: Wilder's only lost to the No.1 heavyweight (who he also drew with, albeit controversially) Whyte's lost to the No.1 heavyweight, a badly faded Povetkin, a green AJ and got a contested decision (SD) over Chisora. After 41 year old inactive dethroned Wlad and 39 year old Povetkin, AJ's wins are Chisora level. This has been proven time and time again now. Several of AJ's best wins were actually less dangerous than Chisora by my estimation, Parker and Pulev in particular. Ajagba's best wins are Demirezen and Rice by decision, neither of which were top 6 ranked by Ring (or even close) as Wilder's best three wins were. Sanchez's best win by far is unranked Ajagba by decision in a competitive fight. It's going to be AJ-conqueror Ruiz, provided he gets past 43+ Ortiz.
Post covid povetkin would have been KO'd by Chisora. He was not only shot but unfit also. Can't believe he was even allowed to fight.
Solid comeback opponent, especially considering that Wilder has other hurdles to overcome: 1. Winless since November 2019 2. Will have only completed 10 rounds in the previous 32 months and have been inactive for 12 months 3. Accrued a lot of injuries throughout his career 4. Will be about to turn or have just turned 37 5. Made a massive amount of money in his last two fights 6. Coming off brutal back to back KO defeats after an unbeaten run spanning 12 years, 43 fights and 10 consecutive defences over 5 years
As long as Robert the Gent gets paid well I'm all for it. Because he is getting baptised in this one.
Kownacki has a better chin than Wilder. Helenius hits hard. Ask Brewster who accused Helenius' of loading his gloves, ask Sam Peter who Helenius knocked out cold and ended his career, ask Liakhovich, Teper, Chisora(whom he hurt badly early in their fight before breaking his hand) Whyte whom he also strung if he has no power. Helenius dropped Kownacki with a very short shot. If either guy is caught with the full blunt of the others power they're going to bed. Even if Helenius isn't able to land a concussive once punch KO shot I'm not convinced Wilder is durable enough anymore to take an extended beating like Kownacki did. This one will end early regardless of which way it goes.
This is a formidable list of hurdles in my opinion, because they're real. On paper Wilder should hit a guy like Helenius due to his porous defense and his stationary style for a ko. But the elephant in the room is Wilder's chin, and mental condition, if Helenius lands a hard shot early, and I'd go after him, how will Deontay react? The biggest obstacle of your list may be #5 , it's hard to motivate a rich man to go to war.
I hope Wilder wins but I'll definitely be sticking some money on Helenius to win, who knows how Wilder will look.
Yeah, I don't think he'll be around if he starts getting tagged early. I actually favor Wilder the longer the fight goes as Helenius has very suspect conditioning. The losses to Washington and Duhaupas had just as much to do with conditioning as they did his chin being eroded. If Wilder starts getting tagged early like Kownacki did he wont make it to the middle rounds. He'll have to take Helenius out then and there. I really hope this one happens. It's literally a coin flip.
Wilder will KO Helenius. Wilder has a decent chin. Look at how much Fury had to beat him up before he was finally KO'd. And Helenius will not last long enough to end Wilder. Wilder KO early. Wilder is also not that easy to hit as he's awkward, and you're worried about his bombs.
