Wilder showed some incredible heart yesterday and I take my hat off to him. I will never question his heart and desire he's one of the toughest men on the planet. However he was never the 2nd best heavyweight. People are now saying Wilder was the definitive 2nd best heavy after Fury to give Gypsy King a boost to his resume. When you break down Wilder's resume and best wins, he's not even in top 5. His best wins are: 1. Ortiz I & II - In the first fight he was on the verge of getting stopped and in the 2nd he was losing every round, sadly Ortiz was 38 and 40 years old for the fights and he possesses a glass chin. Ortiz's best win is Jennings who Ortiz struggled with before the KO. Jennings is a very good boxer. Ortiz 1 is the only good win on Wilder's resume. 2. Stiverne 1 - An alright win, best win was Chris Arreola... 3. Szpilka ? - I mean come on, when your third best win is Artur ****ing Szpilka you can't be considered a great HW. Szpilka whos best win is a 39 year old Mariusz Wach in a very close contest. 4. Brezeale? Again, he was schooled by Wallin and destroyed by Joshua 3 years earlier. Best wins? Molina and Izu...................... 5. Duhaupas? Washington? Both guys are C level fighters. Now lets look at other boxers: Joshua: 1. Kltischko, even though he was old, Kltischko was very up for it and came in incredible shape. Kltischko left everything in the ring, something he didn't do in the Fury fight. 2. Whyte - his best wins are noted down below 3. Parker - undefeated and was a title holder at the time. Ruiz jr, Hughie Fury and Takam were his best wins 4. Povetkin - He was old but so was Ortiz and Povetkin is a much more accomplished boxer. 5. Ruiz 2? - Not much to say, he won every round. Whyte: 1. Joseph Parker... better win than Ortiz 2. Oscar Rivas ... arguably better win than Ortiz, both Ortiz and Rivas struggled about the same vs Jennings 3. Chisora 1 & 2 - Hes by far better than anyone on Wilder's record bar Ortiz. 4. Povetkin 2 - Again, Pov was old but in their previous fight Whyte was firmly in control before he got caught. 5. Lucas Browne/Helenius Usyk: 1. Joshua - Enough to trump everyone on Wilders record 2. Chisora - Just adds to it Parker: 1. Ruiz Jr, a slimmer version of Ruiz who was also undefeated at the time. A win about as good as old Ortiz 2. Takam - A younger version of Takam who was previously only really beaten by Povetkin. Better than anyone on Wilders record bar Ortiz 1. 3. Chisora - Again a better win than anyone except Ortiz. 4. Junior Fa - Better win than anyone except Ortiz 5. Hughie Fury - Was still undefeated when they fought. Better win than anyone except Ortiz. Gave Povetkin and Pulev tough fights. Wilder has power and that's geniunely the only reason people rated him highly. He was a manufactured champion and his resume is tragic. Wilder is a guy who was getting outboxes by Szpilka and Washington and schooled by Ortiz, his power bailed him out, however they are guys who have been sparked out before and then since.

He was number four in my eyes going into this fight, with Joshua, Fury and Usyk above him. Right now he's around number five beneath Whyte. Might even still consider him number four considering the reasonably competitive nature of the fight.
Ortiz is grotesquely underrated. He barely lost a round in his entire career.. He was a good boxer and is a good win for Wilder
To call him underrated imho he needs to fight someone remarkable. How many fights did he have against someone genuinely good? Btw don't get me wrong, i feel the same way, he is definitely good but it doesn't matter how good you are if you are not fighting decent opposition.
I think you meant to say "overrated". He's horribly, horribly overrated. Best win is gatekeeper Jennings and his resume goes downhill rapidly from there. Getting ranked anywhere in the top ten (let alone 4/5 as some did when he fought Wilder) for beating one gatekeeper is absolutely laughably overrated. Chisora has a better resume than Ortiz, by far. Not many put Chisora in their top tens and that's justifiable, but to then rank Ortiz higher is just plain dumb. Ortiz is a decent boxer who never fought anyone better than gatekeepers before Wilder - like I said in another thread, "fraud recognises fraud", Ortiz knew Wilder's resume was hopelessly padded and Wilder grotesquely overrated and that's why he was willing to fight him. Put it all together and you start to realize what a joke it always was for anyone to rate Wilder top 3 and Ortiz as ever top 5.
Of the champs Fury AJ Bum dosser It's always been that way Usyk or Fury 1 and 2 now or 2 and 1 AJ #3 Bum dosser should have three defeats on his ledger to Fury now, two via baptism
Yeah but who's has he fought to win all those rounds, Malik Scott, Jennings, Hammer is not a resume of a top contender. Ducked Joshua outright, even him fighting Wilder was really a cherry pick because he could of fought AJ for far more money had he waited his turn and pressed his mandatory rights. Fighters should be based on who they beat, not how they lose or who they potentially could beat. He might be underrated but we will never really know because he refuses to fight anyone decent.
Fraud recognises fraud. Ortiz knew his odds against Wilder were far better and that Wilder was a fake champion just like Ortiz wasn't a contender.
True. Wilder gets beaten by Whyte, Joyce AJ, Ruiz, Parker, Usyk, Chisora. He is just such a poor boxer, gasses. His only chance is apparently this ridiculous power, but he had 3 fights against Fury, and couldn't do anything apart from drop him, which cruiserweights have done.
He was the 2nd best when he and AJ were champions and Fury was out of the sports. I agree with most of the rest of what you said. Wilder has great heart but his resume is not very strong. Especially for someone with 10 title defenses.
He beat Jennings better than Wlad and beat Scott better than Chisora.. He didn't get the stoppage over Scott because the ref wouldn't allow it.
