Joshua has a decent chance in this fight still. Wilder is old and only ever has had one punch. Joshua has issues against combo punchers, altho admittedly being shell shocked the way he is now does not bode well for him. I think Joyce is a worse matchup actually.
While that's a distinct possibility, are we forgetting that 43 year old glass jawed Lucas Browne literally stood in front of him and teed off on Miller for 5 rounds straight before getting KO'd? What happens if AJ stands in front of him and tees off for 5 rounds straight?
He held his guard in this fight harder than any other bout. He was deathly scared. Got confidence after he'd gauged his distance eventually mid fight.
Franklin landed a feather-fisted tap early on in the fight and AJ looked visibly shook, if Franklin had been a guy with pop in his punches it would've been goodnight Vienna.
We don’t really know how much Wilder has left post-Fury, Helenius didn’t test him. Still, I would say at least psychologically Wilder has the advantage.
Huge possibility tbh. Would have always been hesitant to put joshua in with wilder. Would run a mile with current joshua. If joshua doesnt improve massively soon....its pretty much throwing him to the wolves putting him in with wilder. The truth is you cant really not aim to fight the top guys if you,ve any kind of ambition. But its a silly fight to make for joshua unless theirs massive improvement soon. It should be the aim....but another couple of quick fights against slightly better than franklin then see where we,re at. Wilder has his flaws....but dont stick in a guy thats confidence isnt high who appears to be questioning himself continually in the ring atm.
Why didn't Helenius test him? Oh, right. Because Wilder knocked him cold with one punch. That's how much Wilder has left.
Wilder wouldn`t throw a punch in the first 4 rounds but AJ wouldn`t either. After those 4 rounds eventually Wilder wins by KO.
A lot of people stroking off Wilder for his victory over Robert Helenius, as if that had any meaning at all.
