What's the deal with Wilder's windmilling? That is, the kind of punches he was throwing (and missing) right as the fight got stopped. Is there a case for throwing those kinds of punches if the opponent is stunned? If those punches landed, would the power be devastating?

From my uninformed fan perspective, the technique looks really bad. But it's hard to tell with heavyweights. Tyson Fury's technique looked bad at times (never as bad as Wilder's and Fury showed tremendous improvement in his last few fights, but still...) yet Fury refined that style into something capable of defeating Klitschko.

Wilder flails away to try and force the ref to stop the fight. It's a cheap move. He probably lacks the skill to finish a fighter properly so he flails away to create an illusion and get the stoppage.

Just watched on Youtube, Wilder was schooled by Washington for those 5 rounds and Wilder got lucky he found that TKO "combination" (or shall I say drunk sailor windmilling disgrace)

Hell yeah Wilder looked bad, very poor skills. Wilder was getting shut out by a novice, 19 fight college football player turned boxer. Washington was boxing his arse off lmao.

Credit to Washington, he was very inexperienced, he got a super late start to boxing, after being in the U.S Navy and playing American football. He took the fight on short notice, and he was schooling Windmiller. The guy ony had 14 amateur fights and half the pro fights of Wilder and was obviously the more skilled boxer.
