The writer of this article is speculating, on top of that can't count because March is 8 months away. Would AJ take a 10 week camp after destroying the overrated Parker and fight Wilder in March. This is a matchup everybody wants to see asap.

Time for the WBC to do their job and set up a fight an interim belt. Knowing them they'll let Wilder sit on his for the better part of a year while the division suffers.

Why would that be necessary now?

Why wouldn't it be? Looks like Wilders going to be out for the better part of a year.

Next March isn't quite a year. I think you're letting your dislike for Wilder get the better of your judgment.

There is no reason at all to create a situation that involves an interim champion - it would be a pathetic money grab by the WBC at this point.

Why would it have to be a bogus interim belt?

I'd be all for Povetkin vs Stiverne to determine a new mandatory following the uncertain aftermath of Povetkin's testing positive. But it seems silly to create an interim situation following this - especially since Wilder has been far more active than any heavyweight champion in recent years, prior to this injury.

That's the name of the game man. A interim belt if done right will make things more interesting in his absence. Surely you don't want the HW division to become even more stagnant than it already is? :huh

Interim belts make things worse as a general rule, IMHO.

Well really the WBC have handled things terribly for the last couple of years. Between not stripping Vitali when he stepped away, that farcical tournament and letting Wilder have voluntary after voluntary against guys who aren't even top 20 heavyweights they've really made a mess of things. Don't see why an interim would be an issue...

I get where you're coming from.. But the HW division is dead most of the time so in a situation like this it's necessary to create some excitement and keep things going. An interim belt would do that if done RIGHT. But knowing the WBC they'd probably make a mess out of things .:patsch

No interim belts ugh. Povetkin is the mandatory and if Povetkin desires he should be allowed an interim fight against an opponent of his choice while Wilder recovers. Then that fight must be the first fight back for a Wilder. No unification matches or more voluntaries. It's getting ridiculous.

I could of beat that version of Arreola with no arms.
