Because he's no.2 now and will have only lost to the no.1 in Tyson Fury. That's kind of how it works. It would be nice if our opinions dictated the rankings but we're just fans on a forum.

Maybe with Ring magazine but that has a questionable rankings hisroty. For example AJ was number one, Ruiz beat him so Ruiz surely should be number 1 considered he beat the "guy" but no. They made Ruiz number 3 and AJ number 4.

What was also questionable is that I don't believe Fury was even ranked in the top 10 (rightly so as beating Seferi and Pianetta doesnt deserve to get you ranked) untill the Wilder vs Fury 1 st fight was arranged. Then Fury went ahead of Wilder after that 1st fight. The ring rankings are very flawed when the number 3 has beaten more the top 10 ranked opponents (4) than number 1 and number 2 have done combined (1).

None of which changes the idea that Wilder will have a desperately weak CV for a guy who’s a five year world champion with 40+ fights.

Oh so now the ring are incompetent. I bet if Anthony Joshua was ring champion it'd be the best organisation in the game. Your arguments wreak of biterness and jealousy.

Strange men spending stupid amounts of time speculating and slating top fighters who are facing off against each other. You criticise them when they face lower opposition and you're still criticising them when they face the best. Yet AJ can do no wrong. It makes no sense.

What matters is Tyson Fury is back and he's signed up for the biggest heavyweight clash in many years where a new ring magazine heavyweight champion will be crowned. It's a fantastic start to 2020 and I for one am thoroughly enjoying it already.

Well it would make much more sense to their rankings considering the resumes.

Fighting the best? Since when? Wilders last opponents have been

Fury - Hasnt beaten a top 10 fighter in over 4 years.

Ortiz - only notable fighter he has beaten was about 5 years ago in Jennings.

    Breazeale - enough said.

In case you missed it. Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder are facing each other on February 22nd. Some of us are going to enjoy it. But not all, unfortunately.

It’s good that it’s happening but it’s a shame the rest of the time they’re so happy to fight dross.

Absolute shame Tony. Lets talk about it everyday for the next few years until they retire.

    "Fury - hasn't beaten a top 10 fighter in over 4 years".

Please use the same line of thinking when going through Joshua's opponents then. Be consistent.

Ruiz? Who's his best win outside of Joshua (which is a big black mark on AJ btw)

Povetkin? Fought B/C level opponents since Klitschko loss

    Parker? Scraping by Andy Ruiz

Takam? Jesus Christ, i couldn't even tell u his best win

Whyte? Best win up until that point was sokolowski fffs

Klitschko? 41 year old, 18 months on the settee having lost to the man you are playing down

    Molina? Lol

The fact is. No one has a tremendous resume these days. However come Feb 23rd, Fury will have fought Klitschko (in his own yard), and Wilder X 2. Wilder would have fought Ortiz X 2 and Fury X 2. More impressive than anything on anyone else's resume.

Whyte - career best win over Parker (more impressive than any win Wilder has), Rivas and Chisora x 2.

Ruiz - win over AJ, which is far more impressive than any win on Wilders resume.

Parker - win over Ruiz (more impressive than any win Wilder has), Takam and Hughie Fury.

Povetkin - beat Hammer far more convincingly than Ortiz. KO Duhaupas, which Wilder wasn't able to do. I would say Povetkin has much more depth to resume than Wilder with wins over Chagaev, Rahman, Huck, Perez, Hammer, Takam, Charr, Price, Hughie etc. Unquestionably a better resume than Ortiz.

    Wlad - An ATG

Pulev is likely to be AJs next fight however I wouldn't deem him to be as good as above 5 opponents mentioned. That said Pulev still has a more impressive resume than Ortiz and would be an more impressive win.
