Its relative to the time though isn't it. That fight happened 6-7 years ago.

Now I'd agree the division was not in a good condition so his ranking seems inflated by 2021 standard, but when Wilder fought Stiverne:
Ring had him #5 (adjusted for champion)
TBRB had him #4 (adjusted for champion)
    PBO had him #5

So, it sounds very much like he was a top 10 fighter going into 2015

As I say, people don't want to give him his due. But Stiverne 1 is a solid win, it was the rematch that was a shambles.

Anyway, that is as far as I'm willing to defend Wilder's record

    Tyson Fury's re
I don't think WBC rankings are remotely accurate.

Stiverne and Ortiz are the only guys he beat that appear to warrant a top 10 ranking

Well, Deontay Wilder has been rated in the top three of the RING ratings every month for more than six straight years.

And he's been rated in the RING top 10 for - let me check the Ring ratings this month - 401 STRAIGHT WEEKS (that's basically eight years).

Do you know how many fighters IN HISTORY have been rated in the Ring top 10 heavyweights EVERY month for eight STRAIGHT years (top three every month for six years)?

    Not many.

    Clearly, he's beating someone.

And, when he beats the recognized World Champion in a couple weeks you won't have to worry about which guys belonged in the top 10 or not.

    Problem solved.

Fury's not recognized as champ by many including me due to his 3 year hiatus from the sport.
You don't get to disappear for 3 years and come back claiming your still champion, that's not how it works. If it did, then Lennox Lewis could announce a comeback and again be recognized as champ.

Most of Fury's reputation is based of fighting Wilder anyway. I'm not at all convinced he beats Hrgovic, Yoka, Joyce, etc.

    That's nice.

Fury is the RING World Champion. Just like Ali. Just like Louis. Just like Tyson. Just like Lewis. Just like all the real WORLD heavyweight champions.

The unbeaten #1 Ring Contender Fury and the unbeaten #2 Ring Contender Wilder fought for the Vacant RING title last time out. The top two heavyweights fought, and Fury won.

    He is the World Champion.

When Wilder beats Fury in their third fight, Wilder will be, too.

Tyson, Lewis, etc didn't take 3 years off and retain recognition as champion. Why should I take Ring Magazine seriously? Many don't see Wilder as the second best heavyweight in he world either.

Fury hasn't fought any credible opponents aside from Wilder since 2015 so Wilder beating him doesn't exactly prove much when Fury refuses to fight any other top contenders.

Fury didn't, either. He was named Ring Champion for the second time when the #1 rated Fury and the #2 rated Wilder fought in their rematch for the vacant Ring title.

Were you asleep during all this or are you new to the sport?

    It's pretty common knowledge.

That's comical. At the time he fought Wilder Fury hadn't scored a significant win in years. Joshua had recently beaten Klitschko, Parker, and Povetkin. No way was Fury number one based on recent results. Ring Magazine is way off here.

The Fury/Wilder winner doesn't deserve recognition as champ unless they beat the winner of Usyk/Joshua

No, Joshua had recently been dropped four times, spit out his mouthpiece and quit against the unranked late sub Andy Ruiz.

I'm not going to argue with you about it. Those are the facts. If you choose to believe your own made-up stories, that's on you.

In the real world there are repurcussions when you get dropped four times and quit against bloated, unranked subs.

and subsequently dominated him in the rematch. You haven't presented any facts just opinions. The view that Fury is champion is your opinion not a fact.

Here's a fact though, aside from Wilder, Fury hasn't faced any highly ranked opponents in years. How can you argue Wilder beating him is a huge achievement when he refuses to fight anyone else? How are Joshua, Joyce, Hrgovic, Yoka, etc supposed to beat Fury when he won't fight them in the first place?

I literally posted the link saying the winner would be named the RING champion.

    Here it is again.

    https://www.the-sun.com/sport/boxin...itle-as-well-as-wbc-belt-in-february-rematch/

And here is Fury with his second RING belt along with his Fighter of the Year belt after he beat Wilder.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/b...azine-belts-heavyweight-title-collection.html

And here is the RING magazine cover when he beat Wilder for the RING/WBC titles.

    https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/A1wM7M3XJUL.jpg

And here is the RING magazine cover when he won the Fighter of the Year last year (co-fighter).

    https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51n2I1nttmL._SX359_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

Which of these is just my opinion?

Go away now before I put you on ignore entirely. If you can't even acknowledge the facts before we begin, there's no point in talking.

I'll never understand the rationale of guys who say, "Well, other than fighting the best, he hasn't fought anyone."

Seems to be a common thread among Joshua fans ... because they can name a whole bunch of "not the best" guys Joshua fought.

When Joshua actually fights the best heavyweight in the world, you'll understand.

Right now, Joshua himself considers Andy Ruiz his biggest win. (Let that sink in. Andy freaking Ruiz..) :hang

Anthony Joshua says his best win was when he outpointed a 300-pound Andy Ruiz in their rematch.

So I think this discussion about the quality of Wilder's resume is over. When Joshua says HIS best performance is Andy Ruiz, it's over.

Meanwhile, in 19 days, Deontay Wilder fights the best heavyweight on the planet Tyson Fury for the third time for the WORLD title.
