Dubois is more skilled than Ngannou, but we've seen him take a lot of shots due to defensive deficiencies. We've seen it in his wins and losses. Most recently, he took bombs surprisingly well from Hrgovic. He took several straight right hands and kept coming back in. There's no way in hell he can do that with AJ and survive more than a couple rounds. That's where the parallels with Ngannou come up. If he can't stand up to Joshua's straight right, he will have to change his strategy too.....maybe rushing Joshua? Don't see much of a path to victory for Dubois, despite his impressive showing against Hrgovic.
I don't think it'll look quite that simple... But I do think Dubois will either get stopped or take enough accumulation that he quits. AJ tends to be careful, not taking unnecessary risks - if he's clearly winning on the cards, which is very likely, then he'll only go for the big one-punch finish like that if he's 100% sure of his timing. Either way, I think this is a level or two too far for Dubois just yet (but he's still several years off his prime!!)
Dubois will work on his defense because he will have to, Joshua hits harder than Hrgovic and Dubois is aware of that, Ngannou, unlike Dubois, does not know how to box and it was known that he would lose, and Dubois has a chance to win and I am convinced that he will win. ..
I see what you're getting at. I do think AJ will prove too good and too seasoned for Dubois, impressive as his post Joyce comeback has been. I think Joshua wins by mid round stoppage in a fairly impressive display
Yes, it will. Dubois is packing glass and Joshua is going to shatter that fragile mandible early - VERY early. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/daniel-dubois-has-a-glass-jaw.696063/
I think Joshua for his best chance of success probably should go for that type of finish early because I think Dubois will finish Joshua badly and the longer he's in the fight the more chance he has of doing that.
While I pick AJ by KO, Dubois is light years ahead of Ngannou in terms of offensive skills and dangerousness, and AJ won't feel himself as comfortably in this fight as vs Ngannou
Comparing Dubois to Ngannou insults all the years of work that Dubois has put into his craft. AJ is getting Ruized in this bout. Yes, I said it. RUIZED.
When Joshua lands his best punch on Dubois. Anthony will soon realise that Frank's pet Frankenstein is impervious to pain, and indestructible!
Oh cmon... Dubois has retired twice because he couldn't take any more. I give him a pass for the Joyce fight, but he still had a punchers chance against Usyk and wasn't at risk of a serious, serious injury like he was against Joyce. His chin for single big punches seems pretty good (but so is Joshua's), the big question mark will be about accumulation and heart once he knows he's not winning on the cards... He's been better with it recently, but this is a huge, huge step up from Hrgovic and Miller.
AJ will be a more cautious against Dubois than Ngannou, but I can defo see AJ countering Dubois hard with a massive shot early enough. Either way I expect AJ to stop Dubois in the mid to late rounds especially as Dubois isn't as good as AJ in any department possibly bar power. I still expect AJ to take some good shots and Dubois to have his moments.
Unlike Miller who is a gatekeeper at best, I don't think Hrgovic is that far away from AJ's level. I can see Hrgovic picking up some good wins on the way as his career progresses and I think he would actually beat Dubois in a rematch.
