Speculation about who he could of fought and who has "ducked" him does not matter to me. This is a game of "what ifs" and "might have beens" that mean nothing to anyone.

Scurla is 100% correct that Calzaghe has only had 3 meaningful fights in his entire career, and he has only just begun to get recognition for himself since the Kessler fight in Britain.:deal Whether that is his fault or not, those are the facts.

Thats utter bull****.Joe 3-4 years ago had his name linked to Harry Simon, a middleweight tourney that was mooted by DKP, Eastman (prior to him turning into a gatekeeper) William Joppy before he got turned into a swollen mess by B Hop, Thomas Tate (before he hit journeyman status) Sven Ottke, David Telesco, Clinton Woods, Glen Johnson (of which he pulled out of this fight twice) Tarver the list was almost endless.Those guys werent great fighters but they were "names" and well known quantitys.For one reason or another the fights just never happened. JC played hardball because he knew he could make easy money defending his belt at home beating up cans.To now turn around and say everyone else declined to make the fights happen is just crap.Remember his promoter is Frank Warren!!

No ones doubting Joes skills and this is the crux of the problem.His had the skills but his not used it them to his fullest.You dont qualify for being the best fighter on the planet on skills alone.Your resume and the manner of your victorys is all that matters.thats why Floyd is number 1 and wont be knocked off anytime soon.

Kessler wasnt ranked in the top 10 P4P according to my knowledge.Whom did JC beat to get a number 1 ranking? Certainly if he beats names like Pavlik Wright or adds the IBF to his resume becoming the first 4 belt champ at 68 then he has a shout at the number 1 spot.But thats merely a moot point.If Tyson came out of retirement and beat everyone in the top 10 by 1st round KO he`d have a case too.But like i said its all semantic.Where better of dealing with the fights his had.Not the fights he might have had.

 

If Joe beats a silverback gorilla in march, a bengal tiger in april and an enraged grizzly the following week SOME people might move him into the top 3 p4p.
